Hello,
Welcome.
Today's meditation is going to talk about the font of hopefulness.
These are sordid times,
Times never before encountered,
Even by our ancestors.
It's uncomfortable.
It's uncertain.
The air is filled with fear.
But never fear.
Hope is also in the air.
Hope can come out of nowhere.
Hope is our human nature.
And we have lying within us right now a boundless font of hope.
It is true that we cannot also at the same time be sad and happy.
So goes we cannot also be in a state of fear and hope at the same time.
So we choose each day to sit and meditate and marinate our body,
Our minds,
Our cells in a state of possibility and hope for the future.
Come to a comfortable seat.
Drop into your body.
And for these next eight minutes,
Give yourself permission to unhook from the cycle of news and noise and worry.
Give your body a breather.
Allow your mind to return to nature and the season of spring.
We are resilient beings.
We can adapt and change and adjust.
Don't worry.
It's possible.
So come into your comfortable seat.
If you feel safe,
You're welcome to close your eyes and rest your hands comfortably in your lap.
Before we can tap into hopefulness,
However,
We need to find out exactly where we are right now in this moment.
So find three words to describe your state of mind,
Your heart,
Your emotionality right now.
Don't be ashamed.
Don't color and adjust them for anyone else to hear but yourself.
Be honest,
Clear,
And vulnerable.
You have permission to be human.
Even though everyone else is going through the same thing,
It is individual to us.
Go ahead.
Be you.
And now notice what emotion you're dwelling upon right now and see how that impacts your physical body.
And now come to a state of comfort,
Hopefulness,
Security,
And see how your physical body feels then.
The aim is expansion.
All winter long,
The little seeds nestle beneath the earth and the soil and remain tightly bound in their cocoons until the springtime comes,
The earth warms,
And they press out and expand and break through to receive fresh oxygen,
To receive nature's rain,
And to receive warmth from the sun.
So in this time of spring,
Even though we feel desperate,
Dare to expand.
Dare to let your body receive.
Dare to give to another.
Be on the other end of receiving,
The giver,
The provider,
The offeror.
Where did you go?
Notice your state of mind,
The emotion that comes with it.
What does that do to your physical body?
Acknowledge and release.
And now visualize a little bud pushing through the earth,
Receiving moisture,
Nourishment,
And sunshine as it breaks through and spreads its little petals and leaves and grows.
The little bud doesn't not grow because it might get stepped on,
Doesn't not grow because it might rain.
The little bud presses on no matter what,
And so too must we press on,
Press out,
Expand wide open with bravery in our heart.
Sit in your body and dwell in this state of possibility and hope without doing anything quite yet.
Might feel uncomfortable and that's okay.
You are a human being and you're fond of hope,
Vast and deep and full.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Breathing on something that gives you a sense of hope right now for 12 seconds.
And release.
Breathing on humanitarian goodness for 12 seconds.
Go.
And release.
Bring two hands to the lower belly.
Take a big breath in and a long and soothing breath out.
Namaste.
