We often betray ourselves in quiet ways — saying yes when our body says no, staying where we’ve already outgrown, or following rules that dim our truth. Over time, that disconnection drains our energy and keeps the body in tension. In this gentle talk, Ilana — the voice behind Mettamood — opens The Seven Patterns That Block Healing series with the first pattern: Betraying Yourself. It explores how self-betrayal begins and how listening to the body’s “no” becomes a doorway back to honesty, alignment, and health. Through reflection and soothing guidance, you’ll learn to notice when you’re going against yourself and how self-trust can restore your natural flow — in the body and in life.

Welcome!

I'm Ilana,

The voice behind Metamode,

A space for exploring the invisible laws that shape our reality,

Coming home to yourself,

And healing through truth,

Beauty,

And self-love.

Thank you for taking this moment to pause,

To breathe,

And to listen inward.

There is a quiet kind of pain that doesn't come from illness or loss,

But from all the times we've gone against ourselves.

When you say yes while your body says no.

When you smile while something inside you tightens.

When you stay in a situation that drains you.

Or pretend you're fine because you don't want to disappoint anyone.

When you keep going even though your whole being longs to rest.

This pattern often begins when you start living by chutes,

Saying yes when every part of you says no.

Maybe you stay in a job that quietly drains you.

Or in a relationship that no longer feels alive,

But looks stable.

Perhaps you keep repeating family traditions that don't reflect who you are.

Or you dream of another life and tell yourself it's unrealistic.

From the outside,

It all seems fine.

You're responsible,

Productive,

Even admired.

But inside,

A quiet voice keeps whispering,

This isn't me.

Can you recall a moment when you smiled on the outside while something inside you said no?

That moment is where self-betrayal begins.

The small fracture between truth and appearance.

When you ignore that whisper,

The body carries the cost.

When you try to live by someone else's script,

An inner split forms between who you are and who you pretend to be.

That split hurts,

And the body reflects it back,

Through tightness,

Fatigue,

Disconnection or illness.

Because the body can't rest inside a lie,

It only feels safe in truth.

I learned this deeply through chronic illness.

Every time I ignored what I felt,

Kept working when I was already burnt out,

Stayed silent when I needed to speak,

Tried to be the person I thought I should be,

My symptoms grew louder.

It was never punishment,

It was guidance.

The body always wants to bring us home.

So let me ask you,

What truth have you been avoiding?

What would happen if you trusted yourself enough to listen and to go with what your heart needs?

Because the moment you do,

Something shifts,

The tension softens,

The body feels safe.

Life begins to support you.

Step by step,

You return to balance,

Not by controlling yourself more,

But by honoring what's already true inside you.

Take a compassionate look at the life you've built,

At all you've created and believed,

And see it with fresh eyes.

What still feels true for you and what doesn't?

Ask yourself,

What do I truly want?

How did I want to live before the world told me who I should be?

You can always reshape your life to make it genuine and alive.

An honest answer to what do I want helps you reconnect to your own path,

To your rhythm and essence.

Remember,

This is your life,

Your desires are sacred.

Only by following what you truly want can you be of real service to others.

At birth,

You inherited beliefs and rules from your family,

Your culture,

Your world,

But pause and ask,

Are they still true for me now,

Or have I outgrown them?

We become so preoccupied with how others live,

Their values,

Judgments,

And expectations,

That we forget the most important lesson,

To love ourselves and return to what truly matters.

And this applies to healing too.

So often we follow systems and routines without listening to ourselves.

In moments of doubt,

We hand over our authority to someone else and hope they have the answers.

But relying on formulas without tuning in to your own truth is exactly how self-love gets lost.

So instead of asking what worked for them,

Begin asking,

Does this work for me?

Does this food give me strength?

Does this practice bring me peace?

Does this way of living feel aligned with my body and heart?

Take a moment right now,

Is there something you're doing,

Even with good intentions,

That deep down doesn't feel right for you?

The moment you start asking these questions,

You shift from imitation to intuition,

From copying someone else's path to walking your own.

Don't hold yourself back just because someone else is on a different path.

Every soul walks its own way home.

The key is to walk yours,

Honestly,

Gently,

And with awareness.

So take a gentle breath.

Notice if there is a place in your life where you've been overriding what you feel.

A yes that doesn't feel like a yes,

A silence that holds too much,

A rhythm that no longer feels natural.

You don't have to change it today.

Just notice.

Awareness is the doorway through which healing quietly begins.

Each time you honor your body's no,

You deepen your trust in life's yes.

And that trust,

That honesty,

Is what turns survival into peace and effort into flow.

Thank you for being here and for choosing to listen.

May this be the beginning of a truer way,

One where your yes means yes,

Your no means no,

And your body no longer needs to shout to be heard.
