Take your time to allow yourself to feel comfortable and supported and grounded whatever position you choose for your meditation whether seated or laying down and as you come into stillness notice the sensations throughout the body beginning with the top of your head noticing if you can feel sensation there muscles of your face skull scanning for sensation down the neck in the chest down the arms to the fingers what do you feel at the palm of your hands remaining solid and still beginning to internally scan sensation back line of your body upper back mid back and low back down your torso belly hips down your legs from your thigh to your shin to your feet and toes allowing your whole body to remain in this field of awareness you're connecting today to the element of water and water reminds us and teaches us about this constant shift and change movement can you tap into that moment by recognizing and noticing the way that your breath is moving in your body here not doing anything you're not forcing anything your breath here is natural comes in expand and then it's released in this cycle this unique rhythm of breath that is yours and that changes throughout the day changes based on what you're doing and changes based on the emotional tone as you continue to connect to the rhythm of your breath gently scan the body scan the mind for any emotions that may be trying to express themselves there is no right or wrong emotion emotions are energy in motion when we feel an emotion we are moving energy out of the unconsciousness through the body into the conscious mind when we block the movement of an emotion remains in our unconscious and can wreak havoc in our life it takes energy a lot of energy to repress our emotions so giving yourself safe supportive time and space to release any emotions you may be holding can release quite a bit of tension that we hold in the body and in the mind allow your awareness to come back to sensations in the body and sensations in the breath that can be an anchor for you anytime an emotion feels too big too overwhelming to tap into the mantra for today's meditation I have the right to feel I have the right to feel you can repeat that to yourself here in your mind or out loud whatever you feel called to do I have the right to feel curious about where in the body you may connect to certain emotions we may feel fear in our belly grief in our chest it's different from person to person it's different from moment to moment becoming curious without judgment to your present moment experience in its totality in its fullness this human experience perhaps you can tap into the energy of the emotion what is its texture what is its flavor perhaps it creates a feeling of coolness in the body or of heat perhaps there's little movements in the body that this emotion is is asking you to express to move feeling free to make any movements now not led by your mind but led through your body we can sometimes repress emotions by restricting movement and so this free-flowing movement can free emotional holding that again causes us so many of us chronic tension anytime it becomes too overwhelming for our system we can always come back continuing to breathe to feel to move continuing to repeat to yourself until you believe it wholeheartedly I have the right to feel to feel every emotion any emotion full spectrum and by continuing this practice we not only allow what we perceive as negative emotions to be released we also allow ourselves the gift of experiencing a deeper positive emotions pleasure joy peace this practice is one of self-nurturance the water element connected to the mother the maternal feminine aspect the yin holding yourself like a mother holds her child and continuing to remind yourself of this right you have to move to be and to feel staying in this experience for as long as your body asks for and we will end our practice together but again I really invite you to continue this practice with a deep breath in through the nose and out the mouth
