Letting go,
Find a comfortable position whether sitting or lying down and just simply relax.
Feel the relaxation continue to flow down through your thighs,
Your knees and your calves all the way down to your feet.
Imagine any remaining tension flowing out through the soles of your feet leaving you completely relaxed.
And as you bask in the state of relaxation know that you are in a safe and protected space.
You have created this time and this space to nurture yourself,
To let go of the past and now gently bring to mind a situation,
Event or person that has been a source of distress or discomfort in your life.
Allow yourself to recall the details but do this with a sense of detachment,
Observing your memories as if they were clouds passing in the sky.
Notice the emotions that arise as you hold the situation in your awareness.
Where do these emotions reside in your body?
Do you feel a tightness in your chest a knot in your stomach or tension in your shoulders?
Acknowledge these physical sensations without judgment understanding that they are manifestations of your emotional state.
And as you continue to breathe deeply,
Visualize your breath as soothing balm flowing to these areas of tension and gently dissolving the knots and the tightness.
With each inhale draw in peace and clarity and with each exhale release the hold of past hurts.
Now turn your attention to the emotions themselves.
Acknowledge the pain,
The anger,
The frustration or any other emotions that are present.
Understand that these emotions are a natural response to your experiences but also recognize that holding onto them no longer serves your well-being.
It is time to let them go.
Visualize these emotions as dark heavy clouds within you and with every breath in imagine drawing in a golden light.
And with every breath out see the light transforming the dark clouds lightening them and dissipating them until they are completely gone.
Feel the weight lifting off your shoulders a gentle sense of spaciousness taking its place.
Speak to yourself with kindness and compassion saying internally I acknowledge these feelings but I choose to release them.
I let go of past resentments and negative attachments.
I free myself from their weight and welcome in peace and serenity.
And sit with this new sense of lightness for a few moments.
Breathe into the space that has been created within you allowing it to expand with each breath.
Notice the shift in your energy and the sense of liberation that comes with letting go.
Feel a warm glow of gratitude for having the strength and courage to face these emotions and to release them.
As this meditation draws to an end take a few deep breaths grounding yourself in this moment.
Feel the support of the ground beneath you knowing that you are held.
Bring your attention back to your breath.
Notice if it has changed in any way since the beginning of the meditation.
And when you are ready gently wiggle your fingers and your toes bringing movement back to your body.
Slowly open your eyes coming back to the present moment.
