Take a lovely deep breath in,
And a long slow breath out,
And the next time you breathe in,
Look up towards your forehead,
And as you breathe out,
Gently close down your eyes.
See,
Feel,
Or imagine a telephone line that runs between your brain and your gut.
It's a direct two-way line,
Always connected,
Always communicating between the mind and the gut.
And for a long time,
The messages weren't getting through clearly.
Your brain was maybe too anxious,
Or too busy to listen,
So your gut started shouting,
With urgency,
With panic,
With discomfort.
But things are different now.
Your brain is speaking more gently.
It's sending a message of safety to your gut.
It says,
I'm here,
I'm listening,
You're okay,
And I'll support you.
And your gut hears this message,
It begins to calm,
To soften,
To trust,
And to shift out of that old mode of danger,
And back into safety.
Back into rest and digest.
And the communication line between them gets clearer.
It's a two-way conversation of mutual support and teamwork.
Your brain says,
It's safe,
And your gut replies,
Then I can rest,
I can digest,
And I can heal.
Feel as this connection between your mind and your gut strengthens now.
And in a moment,
I'm going to count from one to three,
And when I say three,
You'll open your eyes,
Feeling relaxed,
Alert,
And proud of yourself for showing up today.
One,
Noticing your body resting on the surface beneath you.
Two,
Taking a deep breath in,
And sighing it out.
Three,
Opening your eyes when you're ready.
