Transcript

Welcome to the one year old walking meditation.

Parents to do a walking meditation with your one year old,

Take a walk with your one year old either inside or outside and narrate their actions and interests.

When you're ready,

Start walking.

Describe what your child is doing.

Try to use sentences that start with the word you,

Such as,

You are running.

You wanted to touch the grass.

Follow the child's lead.

Try not to control or judge what the child is doing.

Unless it's unsafe,

Then please intervene and lead them to safety.

Describe what your child is doing or interacting with using sound words.

For example,

You can say,

You're walking,

Step,

Step,

Step,

Or you're stepping on leaves,

Crunch,

Crunch,

Crunch.

When the child points at something,

Call attention to it and allow them to investigate.

For example,

You are pointing at the flower.

It's blue,

Your favorite color.

Let's smell it.

Does it smell like anything?

That's it for the walking meditation for one year olds.

If you're having fun,

Continue to describe your child's actions and explore the world with your child.

Thanks for joining us.
