Good morning.
Welcome to this morning meditation before you open your phone and scroll on social media.
In this morning meditation,
Our practice is focused on cultivating self-compassion and releasing the urge to compare and judge ourselves in the realm of social media and the digital world.
In the quiet moments before you dive into your phone,
Give yourself permission to simply ground into your day,
To nurture your self-worth and set a positive intention for the amazing day ahead.
I'll invite you to find a comfortable position,
Whether that's lying down or sitting in a chair or wherever you may be.
Find a comfortable,
Comfortable space.
Close your eyes.
Gently take a nice deep breath in through your nose and a slow breath out your mouth.
Do that again.
Take a deep breath in through your nose and a slow breath out your mouth.
One more time,
Breathing in and letting go.
Allow yourself to settle into this beautiful present moment.
Notice the gentle rise and fall of your belly.
Notice the sounds in your space.
Notice yourself just as you are,
And then bring your awareness to your physical body.
Simply beginning at the top of your head,
Take a slow,
Ever-present scan down through each part of your body.
Notice any areas of tension,
Discomfort,
And maybe visualizing your breath,
Your prana,
Life force energy,
Flowing into those areas of tension or discomfort and releasing it.
Allowing your body to relax completely from the crown of your head down to your toes.
Just simply noticing,
Finding a softening,
Cultivating a space of relaxation.
Shift your attention to your breath.
Notice the cool air as you inhale and the warm air as you exhale.
Allow for your breath to become your anchor that brings you back to the present moment.
If your mind starts to wander,
The breath is available to you at any time.
Not just in this meditation,
But as you move throughout your day.
And as you're anchoring in to your breath,
Settling in to your body,
Visualize a gentle,
Compassionate light enveloping your whole being.
Imagine this light as a warm,
Golden glow.
And this golden glow symbolizes self-love and acceptance.
With each breath,
Feel this light expanding within you,
Radiating kindness and compassion towards yourself.
And then repeat the following affirmations silently or aloud.
I am enough,
Just as I am.
I am enough,
Just as I am.
My journey is unique and valid.
My journey is unique and valid.
I release the need to compare myself to others.
I release the need to compare myself to others.
I embrace my authentic self with love.
I embrace my authentic self with love.
And then just simply observe your thoughts for a moment,
If there are any.
Acknowledge any thoughts or feelings that arise,
Especially those related to comparison or judgment.
And instead of engaging with them,
Simply let them pass like clouds in the sky.
Remind yourself that your worth is not defined by external measures,
Metrics,
Other people's opinions or thoughts.
None of that.
Just simply observing and letting go.
And as you allow the thoughts to pass,
Bring to mind three things that you're grateful for.
These could be simple things,
Experiences,
Qualities that you have.
Just three things that you're grateful for.
And just say them to yourself silently or out loud.
And as you reflect on them,
Just feel a deep sense of appreciation,
Filling your heart for these things,
Experiences,
Or qualities that you have.
Notice that full heart with that beaming light.
And as you do so,
Notice yourself just simply letting go of any judgment.
Maybe imagining a serene,
Beautiful,
Calm body of water reflecting the sky above and the passing clouds.
And just visualizing your judgments or self-criticisms just simply floating by right on the water's surface.
And as you watch these judgments and self-criticisms float away,
Carried by the current,
Notice the sense of lightness,
Freedom,
And sweet release.
And as you prepare to go out into the digital world today and to exist in this new age,
Set a positive intention for the day.
It could be something along the lines of,
I will approach social media with a curious and compassionate heart.
Or maybe I will prioritize my well-being over comparison and judgment.
Or lastly,
I won't overthink or analyze others' actions and compare them to my own.
Allow yourself to plant this seed of intention and to carry it with you as you move through your day.
And as you begin to bring your awareness back to your body,
Just start to gently wiggle your fingers and your toes,
Reawakening the body.
Maybe taking a few breaths with awareness in and out through your nose.
And as you carry this sense of self-compassion and mindfulness with you throughout your day,
Remember that you are on your own unique journey,
And others are on theirs.
And your worth shines from within.
By approaching social media with mindfulness,
Self-love,
Compassion,
You can navigate any challenges that may arise while staying true to your authentic self.
Give yourself permission today to simply be you and not compare yourself to anybody else.
Because only you can be you.
