Emotions are at the core of human beings. We accept it or not, but emotions are our blessings! It is how we communicate with our “inner Being”. In other words, it is how we are communicated by our “higher self." It is what makes us who we are. This meditation gently encourages us to gain insight into our emotions to understand their true nature. No emotion is good or bad. It is just E (energy) in Motion!

Welcome everyone.

Thank you for being here today for our short talk and short meditation after that.

The topic for today is being emotional or emotional being.

There is nothing wrong in being emotional.

What is wrong and gets us in trouble is thinking you are that emotion.

You are that feeling.

At Chopra,

We always get this reminder.

And I feel like it's my duty to remind everyone else that we are not our thoughts and we are not our emotions.

We are simply having or experiencing those emotions.

Humans are emotional beings.

There is nothing human without emotions.

Emotions are pathways that brings traffic of ideas and awareness on the surface.

It helps us see what there is to see.

And once we're able to see what there is to see,

We can change what there is to be changed for good.

Suppressing emotion is like telling ourselves to avoid looking at problems in life.

And shove them under the carpet only to find out days later that the bulging carpet is where you are stubbing your toe.

Emotions help us connect with our inner being.

If we pay attention to them,

We can learn more about what they are and why they're here.

Detaching from the emotion you're having gives you a chance to understand its deeper nature.

For example,

When I feel sad,

I can easily get caught into saying or thinking that I am sad.

And that is a little problem.

If I continue to think I am sad,

Of course I will become sad.

But if I pause there and choose to unattach myself from my emotion and then accept it,

That I feel sad,

Despite the reason,

Then I can actually work with that sadness that I'm feeling.

And work with,

By that what I mean is,

You befriend your emotion to literally talk to it.

Why it came on surface and what it needs.

It points us towards changes we need to make within us or outside of us.

The major benefit is that it will definitely help you disassociate yourself from your emotion.

And with that,

It becomes easier to let go and let go of the aspect of emotion that doesn't serve us.

And only accept what we will use in making the next nourishing choice.

Let me invite you to meditate deeper today with mantra Aham.

Aham is a vibration of words.

I am in Sanskrit,

An ancient language from South Asia.

It's a sound of the self with capital S.

When you repeat Aham silently,

The sense of self,

Which is the root cause of consciousness,

Comes first.

Then the mind comes into being and through it,

We can see the outer world.

I invite you to close your eyes and sit or lay down comfortably.

Take a few slow,

Deep breaths.

Simply follow inflow and outflow of your breath.

Coming into the present moment.

And bring your attention to your heart center.

Take a few breaths here while you allow yourself to become more relaxed and comfortable.

You may now start repeating mantra silently.

Aham.

Aham.

Aham.

Remember,

Repeating the mantra is always effortless.

Whenever your attention drifts to thoughts in your mind,

Sounds in your environment,

Or sensations in your body,

Gently return to your attention to your mantra.

Aham.

I will watch the time and will tell you when it's time to end your meditation.

Enjoy.

Please keep your eyes closed.

Stop repeating the mantra.

You may also stop observing your breath or just continue to rest.

Rest in being.

Rest in awareness.

You may now begin to take a few deeper breaths.

You may want to stretch and move your body if you wish.

And when you're ready,

Please open your eyes.

No emotion is good or bad.

It's only the emotion.

And we should learn to detach from it only so that we can connect to our inner self and avoid making choices based on emotional reactions,

Thinking our emotion is who we are.

Emotions are the attempts from higher realms to connect with us.

It brings out the best in us.

Only if we let it flow through us instead of suppressing it.

Let it process through us.

Let it digest through our solar plexus to decode what it means.

Emotions make us human.

And not just any human.

The one with the source within.

Thank you for meditating with me today and raising this collective consciousness so we can all hear the universal heartbeat.

Namaste.
