From wherever you are,

The invitation is to be guided by your comfort,

So that you are feeling safe and supported during this practice.

The hands are an extension of the heart.

If it feels okay,

You might bring your hands to rest over your heart space.

As you settle in,

Your eyes may be softly open,

Or perhaps your eyes might gently close.

Know that you can open them at any time you need to.

Take some slow and soothing breaths,

Slowly inhaling,

Slowly exhaling,

Allowing each breath to come and go.

As you breathe,

See if you can become aware of the space around you.

Sense the touch of air on your skin.

Any supports that you have around you.

Any sounds within your space.

Any sounds outside.

And now the sound of your own breathing.

Slowly inhaling,

Slowly exhaling,

Allowing each breath to come and go.

Notice how your energy expands outwards,

Reaching out to sense,

To feel,

To listen.

And then notice how your energy returns to nestle inwards,

Inhaling,

Expanding out into the space around you,

Exhaling,

Drawing your energy back to center,

Inhaling and exhaling to the periphery,

And then returning home.

Your breath,

Like the wings of a bird,

Like the pulse of life,

Like a heartbeat.

There will be times when you feel more expansive as your energy flows outward to greet your experiences and there will be times when you call your energy back towards your center and back towards the doorway of your heart to find balance once more.

Allow yourself to receive as much as you give and know that your heart is a place of wholeness.

Long slow breath in,

Long slow breath out,

Allowing each breath to come and go.

Long slow inhale,

Long slow exhale,

Like the wings of a bird,

Like the pulse of life,

Like a heartbeat.

Your hands are an extension of the heart and with your hands over your heart space,

You are cultivating loving kindness and compassion for yourself and for others.

You can rest here,

In this place,

Returning home to your heart,

To your breath,

And to your heartbeat.
