In this reflection and guided meditation, we will examine the idea that "tension is the resistance to change", both on the yoga mat and in our day-to-day lives. We will learn how to let go of tension and resistance so that we can embrace change and create more space for peace, joy, and abundance in our lives. Welcome to today's mindfulness meditation on tension and change.

I'm Ray a yoga and meditation instructor and I've seen firsthand how tension can manifest in our bodies and minds both on and off the mat.

Ponder this thought with me.

Tension is the resistance to change.

Tension is the resistance to change.

When we resist change we create tension in our bodies and minds.

This can lead to physical pain,

Stress,

Anxiety,

Even depression.

This is a normal pattern of life but today let us meditate on how we can acknowledge tension as the next step towards positive change and begin to learn to let go of tension and resistance.

By embracing change we can create more space for peace,

Joy,

And abundance in our lives.

Imagine a river flowing freely.

It's constantly changing,

Adapting to its surroundings.

But if we build a dam across the river the water will become stagnant.

They'll start to collect debris and sediment and eventually the river will become blocked.

Our bodies and minds are like rivers.

When we resist change we build dams in our minds and bodies.

This can also lead to stagnation and blockages.

But when we embrace change we allow our bodies and minds to flow freely.

This creates space for growth,

Healing,

Transformation.

In yoga we can learn to let go of tension and resistance through our practice.

When we hold a pose we may feel some discomfort but instead of resisting this discomfort we can learn to breathe into it and allow it to be there.

As we continue to breathe and hold the pose we'll notice that the discomfort begins to melt away.

In our day-to-day lives we can also learn to let go of tension and resistance by practicing mindfulness.

When we are mindful we are aware of our thoughts,

Feelings,

And bodily sensations without judgment.

When we notice that we are feeling tense or resistant we can take a few deep breaths and remind ourselves that tension is resistance to change.

Tension is resistance to change.

We can choose to embrace change and create more space for peace,

Joy,

And abundance in our lives.

I'm going to leave you with a quote today.

Change is the only constant in life.

I love this quote because it reminds us that change is inevitable.

We have the power to choose how we respond to change.

We can resist change and create tension in our lives or we can embrace change.

And create more space for peace,

Joy,

And abundance.

Thank you.
