Hello,

I'm Richard Willis and welcome to this five finger breathing technique to help you calm down.

It combines breath work with the sense of touch to create a simple yet effective way of relaxing quickly.

To begin with,

Let yourself settle into a comfortable position,

Then stretch out the fingers of one hand so there's space between them,

And start to slowly slide the index finger of the other hand up and down these stretched out fingers,

Slowly moving from one finger to the other.

When you reach the end of the last finger,

Just turn back around and go back the way you came.

Include the thumb as well.

Now,

As you slide up each finger,

Breathe in,

And as you slide down each finger,

Breathe out.

Slide up and breathe in,

Slide down and breathe out.

Slow relaxed breaths.

Each slide lasting to the count of three is a good guide.

Take a few moments now to practice this five finger breathing.

Well done.

You can use this five finger breathing technique to calm down quickly whenever you need it.

Or simply start tracing the fingers slowly and breathe with it.

Feel free to add this to your relaxation toolbox.

Onwards.
