Hello,
And welcome to this meditation.
Begin by snuggling up,
Snuggling in,
Getting into a cozy position for your body.
And begin by taking some full,
Relaxing,
Deep breaths.
As you breathe in,
Filling up your body,
Maybe hold for a moment at the top,
And as you exhale,
Letting it all go,
Maybe sighing it out.
Again,
Inhaling,
Holding for a moment,
And exhaling,
Sighing it out,
Letting it go.
One more time,
Inhaling,
Filling up,
Holding,
Letting your exhale lengthen,
Release,
Wash out over you like a warm breeze.
Begin by noticing where you are in time and space,
Feeling your body meeting the edges of the surface that you're lying on.
Where does it feel the contact,
The support of the bed or the couch?
Do you feel any air on your skin?
Does it feel warmer,
The places that are in contact with the surface that you're lying on?
Just noticing without judgment,
Remembering that the mind's job,
One of its many jobs is to think.
So it might be thinking of the day or being pulled into the future.
Without judgment,
Understanding this,
And coming back to the breath,
The rise and the fall,
The ebb and the flow,
Remembering the cyclical nature of all things,
Imagining an energetic smoke that comes around your body and your auric field and helps to cleanse the space around you,
Helps you to release all that you are ready to let go of,
All of the stories from the day,
All of the urgency,
The judgments and opinions of the mind,
All the to-do lists,
Knowing that you can come back to anything that you choose,
But releasing it from yourself now,
Letting it float like smoke up into the clouds with an intention to help you feel rested when you wake,
A love letter to the systems of the body,
Relaxing and softening to let the intelligence of those systems do their jobs,
The mind that processes while you sleep,
The blood that recirculates,
Thinking of all the magical,
Mundane acts of these systems and how vital they are,
And there's nothing that you have to do.
You simply can be,
Can exist,
Can give yourself the gift of solace,
Of peace,
Those parts of us that are ready to be let go of float into the sky.
We call in a light,
Like moonlight,
Helping us to scan the body from head to toe and releasing in the physical body anywhere where we may be still holding tension.
With this moonlit glow,
Seeing if we can soften even 10% more into the surface that we're on,
Starting from the top of the head,
Casting this moonlight around the crown,
The muscles of the eyes,
Giving them permission to close,
To rest,
To relax,
Giving that same permission to the temples,
The bridge of the nose,
The muscles of the cheeks and the ears,
Softening the jaw,
Letting the mouth relax,
Letting the tongue fall to the basement of the mouth,
Casting this moonlit glow to the back of the neck,
Where the skull meets the spine,
The throat chakra,
Down through the collar bone,
The tops of the shoulders,
The upper back,
Casting this glow,
This care,
This permission to rest into the length of the left and right arms,
Down through the center of the chest,
The heart space,
Down through the mid-back,
The lungs,
The stomach,
Allowing the breath to rise and fall,
Gently allowing it to be,
Relaxing the fingertips,
The hands,
The fingernails,
The lower back,
The bowl of the pelvis,
The upper thighs,
The back of the legs,
Down through the shins,
The feet,
Relaxing through each toe,
Toenail,
Each muscle and bone of the foot,
Until the whole body is drenched in moonlight,
Is basking in the glow,
The permission to relax,
To set it down,
To let it go,
Casting again the mind,
The energetic field of the mind,
Casting it in moonlight,
Giving it permission to rest,
Thanking the body for all of its systems that run in the background,
That allow you to grow and replenish and exist in this body,
Taking a full deep breath in all the way from the bottoms of the feet,
And exhaling,
Letting go,
Resting,
Again inhaling all the way up through the bottoms of the feet,
And sinking even a little bit more into the surface you're lying on,
On your exhale,
One more,
Breathing in,
And out,
And letting go of the breath,
Releasing it to be what it will be,
As you rest,
Recharge,
