Hello,

This is Sarah Evans coming to you from the edge of the beautiful Peak District National Park in Northern England,

UK.

I am the host of the Long Covid Hope podcast.

I am a yoga teacher,

Reiki master and meditation guide who specialises in assisting those with chronic health conditions and more complex needs.

And in this session today,

I invite you to have a little bit more ease if you're experiencing discomfort or pain.

This is the Dead Sea Meditation visualisation that I like to use with my clients to bring as much ease to them as possible.

As pain is a perception in the mind and it can be overwhelming,

I completely have been there with chronic pain myself and I found that the main way to ease this is to distract.

And so this visualisation today takes you to a distant place in beautiful warm waters.

I invite you to get comfortable,

As comfortable as you can.

It is great to do this lying down.

If it's available to you,

You can do it actually in the bath in warm water,

Obviously taking care to not fall asleep.

But lying down in any comfortable position is completely great.

So just loosen anything,

Attend to anything you need and then seek a little stillness.

Let's begin.

I'm bringing attention to the breath,

Noticing the breath coming in through your nose,

Going down the throat,

Down the chest,

Into the tummy and then flowing from the tummy up the chest,

The throat and out through your nose.

With every breath in,

Inviting stillness,

Calm and ease.

And every breath out,

Releasing tension and discomfort.

Imagine your breath is like a wave going up through your body,

Releasing down and away.

With every exhale,

Letting your body melt down,

Growing heavier and heavier.

This is your time for rest.

Every exhale,

Releasing and relaxing,

Getting deeper and deeper into rest and relaxation.

And we'll slowly transport ourselves to the Dead Sea,

A little place of beautiful blue salty water,

A warm place,

Very warm and restful.

They say you can float in the Dead Sea,

It just lifts you up and holds your body,

It's letting you float.

So imagine that you're floating now on water,

Floating in the Dead Sea,

In buoyant salty water.

You're floating and feeling the support of this water as it lifts you up and holds your body.

It's ever so warm and soothing,

Really connect to that sensation of warmth.

Your whole body is soothed by gentle,

Warm water.

Imagine what it smells like,

Smell that saline water,

Smell of healing.

Invite in what it sounds like,

Maybe you see birds flying overhead,

You can feel,

You can hear the gentle lapping of the movement,

Ever so gentle,

Of the water all around you.

And you're floating,

Bobbing there on top of the water like a cork,

Feeling so held and safe and supported in that water.

Feel the warmth soothing all the way down your back body,

Feeling the warmth in your back of your head,

In your neck,

In your shoulder blades,

Down your back,

Down your legs and your heels and feet.

Allow in the healing power of this vibrant,

Rich water source.

And feeling your body so held and so supported.

You can fully release and relax,

Releasing any and all tension,

Allowing all of your muscles to slowly relax,

Feeling the muscles get heavier and heavier as you're held and supported by this healing water.

You can feel the tensions loosen,

Muscles letting go.

Feeling around the joints as well and feeling so much warmth,

So much ease entering all the joints of your body,

The tendons and ligaments,

All in a state of peace and relaxation.

That's good.

Nothing to do but allow the body to float and drift,

Floating on that vibrant sea of support.

Your head is feeling so light,

Light as a feather.

Your head is so light and at ease,

The warmth seeking in through your skin.

Your head is so light now.

It is the salt that makes you float,

Buoys you up and holds you.

But the salt is also vital for healing.

This great salty lake can heal you.

Saltier than any other sea,

Helping you to float,

To drift,

To bob around.

It can heal you too and heal that pain,

That discomfort.

Feeling the warmth of water,

Releasing tension,

Easing out any and all discomfort.

But maybe you can see it or feel it easing out through your pores and skin,

Flowing into the water,

Floating away.

People have been coming to this Dead Sea for centuries in order to feel the healing powers of this water.

This water that holds you now and enfolds you,

Keeping you safe as you allow the pain to drain away,

Away,

Away,

Out into this salty water,

Leaving you free,

Free of tension,

Just drifting.

Experience seeing yourself there,

Drifting,

Legs out in front of you,

Head back in the water,

Caressed by the water,

Soothed by the water,

Under a vivid blue sky,

With the sun beaming down.

It's so peaceful.

In through all the pores in your skin,

All of the minerals,

The magnesium,

All of the restorative minerals that are found in this Dead Sea,

Letting it soak in,

Rejuvenate your whole essence.

Bathing in salt water,

A long-time cure,

Allowing it to rebalance the nervous system.

All you can do now as you float in that sea,

Connecting and understanding this healing salt water,

Washing over you,

Allowing any remaining tensions to float away,

Tension in your neck and your shoulders,

Shoulders floating away.

Noticing any holding on,

Just giving that area even greater ease.

Muscles in your forehead loosening,

Letting go.

The joints of your jaw unclenching,

Letting go.

Even your hands open,

Relaxed,

Letting go.

Letting the soothing water take the strain as you just drift.

Any remaining tension in your back,

Just melting into the water,

Soothing,

Letting go.

Any tightness in your hips,

In your pelvis,

Dissolving right into that salty water,

Letting the soothing water take the strain,

Letting go.

Drifting out and away.

Floating away in the gentle current of the water,

Allowing yourself to feel that deep support.

You're so supported,

Buoyed up by the water,

So you can let it all go now,

Let it all go.

Enjoying the gentle sway,

The gentle small waves lapping back and forth,

Like being gently rocked as a baby,

Allowing that support of the Dead Sea to soothe you,

Relax you,

Allowing that salty water,

That warm water to heal you now.

Enjoying that sensation of floating a little longer,

Easing,

Soothing,

Relaxing you.

Any last tension melting away,

Drifting away.

Feeling that healing support,

Allow it to carry on with you for the rest of the day,

Rest of the week,

Month and year ahead,

Soothing and supporting you.

And know that you can come back here whenever you want,

Whenever you're ready for this healing,

It's available,

And every time you do it,

The sensation will build stronger,

And be even more healing and soothing for you.

So we'll thank the Dead Sea for its healing,

Nourishing support,

And we'll let that visual slowly fade.

Did you notice the sensation of the floor underneath you?

Feeling the temperature of the air on your skin,

Notice any sounds inside you,

Outside,

Noticing any smell,

Any taste,

Noticing what your mouth tastes like,

Noticing the patterns behind your closed eyelids,

The colors,

The images.

You gently bring a little movement into the fingers and toes,

Just rolling your wrists and ankles,

Maybe taking a lovely stretch if you like,

And when you're ready,

Very gently open your eyes,

And you're back in the room,

But bringing that sensation of warmth,

Of soothing,

With you.

Thank you for listening.

Namaste

Lovely meditation! I did it laying down and felt a release of both physical discomfort/tension and stress. I look forward to trying it again in the bath. I also think it would be great in bed as you prepare to drift off to sleep!
