Welcome to the fear and anxiety meditation.
Today we make friends with our fear and anxiety.
Perhaps up until now,
You've convinced yourself that your fear and your anxiety is an enemy.
To be medicated,
To be quieted,
To be silenced,
To be pushed away.
But today,
We befriend that fear and that anxiety.
If you've ever had a friend that was a fearful person,
How did you handle that relationship?
How did you handle that person?
How did you show up with love and support them through their fears?
Today we'll do just that with your own fears and your own anxiety.
Let's prepare to connect with our new friend,
Fear and anxiety.
If you can,
Lie down,
But if you can't,
Find a comfortable seat.
Whether it's your car,
Your home,
Your workplace,
It could even be a friend's house.
Find a comfortable seat.
Begin to ground yourself down into your body fully so that you can better connect into yourself and to your friend,
Fear and anxiety.
Sitting down,
Feel yourself and your connection to the earth and begin to feel as if you are magnetically drawn to the earth.
You're grounded.
Maybe your legs start to feel more solid.
And for some of you,
It may be helpful to begin to imagine yourself almost as a being made of earth.
That's how connected you are.
However you feel called to ground,
Take a moment and move into that visual and just feel yourself nice and solid on this earth.
And very slowly,
You're going to begin to imagine that sitting out in front of you is a great big emoticon.
Just like in the movie Inside Out,
There's a great big emoticon floating right in front of you.
And as you know now,
You are grounded.
You are three dimensional.
You are real.
And this emoticon floating in front of you may or may not be.
Allow yourself to breathe and maybe smile at the idea that your fear and your anxiety is resting inside of this emoticon hovering in front of you.
Let's make friends with it.
Today,
What is the source of this friend's fear and anxiety?
Let's connect in.
Let this emoticon,
This friend,
Fear and anxiety share with you the realities of any fears that are presenting themselves to you and possibly getting in your way.
Breathe and look at them.
Now allow the concept of time to move into your mind.
How does time relate to this fear?
Are you afraid of losing time?
Running out of time?
Your time ending?
Take a nice big breath and be real with yourself here.
What is it that you're really afraid of?
Dig into it.
What's the source of your anxiety?
Are you afraid of another person,
Their actions?
Allow that to move forward.
Whatever the source of your fear,
Your anxiety is,
Just let it come forward.
Are you afraid that you might lose your job?
Are you afraid that you might not be able to make your aims meet?
Allow that to come forward.
Whatever it is,
Breathe.
Now let's make friends with it.
To our emoticon friend here in front of us,
Presenting these fears,
These worries to us directly.
What would you say to comfort them?
If your friend,
Fear,
Is afraid of losing a job,
What do you say to that friend?
If your friend,
Fear,
Is afraid that someone they love might do something to harm themselves or might make a choice that's not in their best interest,
What do you say to that friend?
If your friend,
Fear,
Is afraid that they won't have enough of what they need,
Money,
Food,
Resource,
What do you say to that friend?
Now what is it that you're afraid of?
Let that come forward.
And what do you say to this friend?
Breathe.
Wonderful.
Take a moment now as you gently come back to present.
Thank your friend,
Fear.
Celebrate yourself for giving such wonderful insight to the friend,
Fear.
And as you come back,
Consider writing down any insights that came to you to further help with purging and disconnecting from that fear.
This is your friend.
Thank you so much for coming forward today to befriend your fear,
Your anxiety.
May your day be filled with love and peace and fearlessness.
Namaste.
