Hi,
I'm Skyler Liberty Rose.
Welcome back to the Midlife Transition Series.
This is the second meditation in our three-part journey focused on witnessing your present moment.
If you've completed the first meditation on honoring where you've been,
Welcome back.
If you're just joining us,
You're in exactly the right place.
This meditation is designed to stand on its own while also building on the foundation of self-reflection.
Taking these meditations one day at a time allows you to fully absorb each practice,
Creating space for deeper awareness and more meaningful insights to emerge.
Today we'll focus on being fully present to what is happening now and tomorrow you can return for the final meditation on setting intentions for your becoming.
Let's begin.
Please find a position that allows you to be both comfortable and alert.
If it feels right for you,
Feel free to close your eyes.
Begin by noticing the sensations of your body.
Feel the points of contact where you're supported.
Perhaps your feet on the floor,
Your back against a chair,
Or your body on a cushion.
Notice the temperature of the air on your skin,
The subtle movements of your breath.
Take a deep inhale through your nose,
Filling your lungs completely.
And a slow exhale through your mouth,
Releasing any tension you might be holding.
And again,
Inhale fully and exhale completely.
Now bring your awareness to this present moment.
Right here,
Right now.
This threshold space of midlife where you stand.
Not looking backward to where you've been,
Not reaching forward to what might come next,
But fully present to what is happening now.
Midlife can be a time of profound transformation,
A time when many women find themselves at a crossroads.
Perhaps children growing more independent,
Careers shifting,
Bodies changing,
Priorities changing.
It's a rich and complex landscape of transition.
What is true for you in this chapter of your life?
What is emerging?
What is falling away?
Inhale,
I am present to what is.
Exhale,
I witness without judgment.
Notice what emotions arise as you consider your current circumstances.
Perhaps there's excitement about new possibilities.
Maybe there's grief for what's changing or ending.
There might be uncertainty about what lies ahead,
Or clarity about what matters most.
Whatever you're feeling,
Allow it to be here.
Inhale,
I welcome all of my emotions.
Exhale,
I make space for everything I feel.
At this midpoint of life,
You have the unique vantage point of being able to look backward at what has been and forward to what might still be.
But the power lies in being fully attentive to what is happening now.
In this day,
This hour,
This breath.
What is asking for your attention in this season of your life?
What wisdom is emerging from within you?
What desires are becoming clearer?
Let yourself rest in the knowledge that this present moment,
This midlife threshold,
Is rich with possibility.
You stand in a place of discernment,
Able to choose with greater clarity what you want to cultivate and what you're ready to release.
Inhale,
I stand at this threshold with awareness.
Exhale,
I approach this transition with presence.
As you breathe,
Imagine yourself fully inhabiting this moment of your life.
Not wishing for what was,
Or anxiously anticipating what might be.
But witnessing what is true right now.
In this attentive space,
Offer yourself these words.
I am present to this moment of becoming.
I witness my life as it unfolds.
I pay attention to what is emerging.
I approach this threshold with clarity and intention.
Inhale deeply,
I am here now.
Exhale completely,
I witness my becoming.
As we prepare to close this practice,
Know that this moment of witnessing your present reality is an essential part of navigating midlife transitions with consciousness and care.
When you're ready,
Begin to deepen your breath.
Gently move your fingers and toes,
Reawakening your body.
Take one more full breath.
And slowly open your eyes.
Thank you for taking this time to witness your present moment.
This attentiveness is a meaningful practice as you navigate the threshold spaces of midlife.
I encourage you to return tomorrow for the final meditation in this series,
Setting intentions for your becoming.
Each day builds upon the previous practice,
Creating a complete experience of honoring your past,
Witnessing your present and intentionally shaping your future.
Carry this quality of presence with you throughout your day,
Returning to it whenever you need to ground yourself in what truly matters.
Thank you so much for joining me today.
I look forward to completing this journey with you tomorrow.
Sending love from my heart to yours.
