Thoughts contradict affirmations because we state them but our subconscious mind doesn't believe it.

That is,

I am wealthy.

And that thought comes but my bank account says differently.

This is because our negative self talks are repeated over and over again.

If someone annoys you,

You usually repeat,

I can't believe they did that.

I can't believe they did that.

And here you are making an affirmation because it is stated in the present and it has emotion attached.

We expect to change with affirmations yet we read them like a to-do list.

For instance,

I am wealthy,

I am safe,

I am prosperous,

I am healthy,

I am loved,

Nope.

There's no emotion to that list.

Affirmations can be difficult to state especially if they're contradicting an emotional experience.

With affirmation and needed support,

You can change your thoughts.

It's okay to take your time with them.

Taking deep breaths and exhaling slowly helps.

Visualizing being in a calm place,

The beach,

The forest,

A meadow,

Your bed.

Thinking of someone or something you love,

Your family,

Your friends,

A loved one,

A pet,

Your home,

Feeling that emotion of love before you start your affirmations will help you change.

You're using affirmations to help change long-standing patterns and beliefs.

A good way to bring this change about is to act as if you've already succeeded.

Affirmations are effective if they are stated in the present.

Adding,

I feel to them,

That is,

I am wealthy,

I feel wealthy,

I am loved,

I feel loved.

It's easier to make a change when an emotion is associated with it.

Emotions are energy which helps us with a change.

Get yourself into a comfortable position,

Either sitting or lying down and close your eyes.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Visualize your calming place,

The waterfront,

Forests,

Meadow,

Backyard,

Wherever you feel calm,

Visualize yourself there.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Repeat after me.

I am loved.

I feel loved.

I am prosperous.

I feel prosperous.

I am joyful.

I feel joyful.

I am safe.

I feel safe.

I live with passion and purpose.

I feel my passion and purpose.

I have compassion.

I feel compassionate.

I am worthy.

I feel worthy.

I feel free.

I am grateful.
