This Somatic Gratitude Meditation invites you to connect with the felt sense of gratitude within your body - not just as a thought but as an embodied experience. By bringing together both mind and body we can cultivate a deeper, more grounded presence of thankfulness. This practice is an invitation to slow down, soften, and let gratitude gently root itself within.

Hi and thank you so much for being here.

I'm so happy to be able to guide you through this somatic gratitude meditation today.

The focus of this meditation is to connect with and cultivate a deep sense of gratitude within and one that you can carry with you once the meditation is finished.

And during this time the purpose is not just to be thinking cognitively about the things you are grateful for.

Yes that's an important part but it's just one part actually.

This meditation is going to go deeper than that where we're going to bring awareness to any sensations and feelings that show up in our bodies when we connect with this gratitude.

Because connecting from a somatic perspective,

Noticing how it feels in your body,

Allows you to connect and further cultivate a space within you where that energy of gratitude lives,

Where it thrives.

And cultivating this practice over time allows you to emanate this not just from a head perspective but from a deep visceral place within.

So with that said we'll get started.

Allow yourself to get into a comfortable position,

Whether that's lying down or sitting.

Take your time getting comfortable and whenever you're ready if it feels right doing so you can gently close your eyes.

If not I invite you to sit with a soft gaze so that your eyes and the space around your face area are relaxed.

Now take several long slow breaths,

Breathing in fully and exhaling slowly.

Noticing the expansion as you inhale and relaxation as you exhale.

Drawing attention now to your body and any sensations that might be present today.

What are they and where are they?

How are you feeling in your body today?

Remembering always that there is no right or wrong way to your individual experience.

And now we're going to begin to connect with gratitude.

Firstly taking a moment to be grateful for the gift of life,

For simply being alive today.

And start to bring into your mind things that you are grateful for.

This could be a roof over your head,

A bed to sleep in,

Food to eat,

Water to drink,

Clothes to wear.

And as you take your next breath in you can be grateful for this breath,

The breath that literally gives you life.

Letting it continue to fall away as you exhale and sink deeper into relaxation and the essence of gratitude within you.

Allow yourself to focus now on the gratitude that you have for people you know and care for and those who care for you.

You can bring this person or these people in your mind's eye,

Seeing them clearly,

Breathing them deeply into your imagination.

Maybe you can even hear how they sound,

See how they look,

Maybe you can feel their energy.

Now offering gratitude to yourself and all of your unique attributes that make you the beautiful person that you are.

Be grateful for those times you have taken action to better yourself and your life.

For the time you've taken today to connect with this meditation.

Grateful for those times where you're able to live in the present moment without having to be in the past or the future.

And as you connect with this feeling within you,

Become curious about how it feels as you breathe this gratitude into your body and focus on its expansion.

Do you notice any changes in your body as you connect with this beautiful feeling of gratitude?

And know that we can cultivate this feeling of gratitude,

Not just by thinking about these things,

But with practice we can move to a point where our head and our heart connects.

And this is when we can literally embody this gratitude within us,

Carrying it with us as a way of being in our lives so that it radiates to all those we come in contact with.

Because this is an energy that you are nurturing within you and believe me when I say it radiates far and wide.

And now you can bring into your heart all of that which fills your life with not only gratitude but also love.

Focus on sounds,

Sights,

Smells,

Tastes and feelings that you experience in those moments.

What can you feel from a somatic perspective as you focus on this?

Maybe it's a tingling on your skin,

An energy flowing through your body that you can literally feel.

A glowing,

An opening.

Maybe it's something else.

All through simply connecting with this sense of gratitude and your body's response to being in the presence and awareness of love.

As you continue to breathe you can feel the beauty of this gratitude continuing to grow inside you,

Intensifying.

So much so that it is forcing out anything that takes your energy and your peace.

Finally giving thanks now to anything else that you can possibly think of that means something to you.

Breathing it through every cell in your body.

And as we bring this meditation to a close we will sit together for the final few moments in this energy of gratitude.

Remembering that you can be with this,

This energy that you have cultivated within and you can carry this into your daily life.

Now gently drawing your awareness to the present moment.

You can slowly start to come back around.

You might want to wiggle your toes and fingers.

You might want to stretch,

Do whatever your body is asking you to do.

Before gently opening your eyes and thanking yourself for showing up for this meditation today.

Until next time,

I'm sending you all my love.
