This is a practice for releasing global anxiety, particularly powerful to reduce feelings of fear and helplessness in the wake on the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. It is guided and encourages the participant to focus on the breath, with some elements of visualisation.

Welcome to this special meditation for releasing global anxiety.

Start by sitting comfortably back straight.

Bring to mind the image of a pure bright white light.

It surrounds your entire being.

Now with each slow deep in breath allow this light to envelope your entire being from head to toe.

And as we tune into the breath we feel a sense of peace and calm.

You are safe.

And you know that during this meditation no harm can come to you.

Let a deep tranquility fill you.

Staying wrapped in that white light.

Taking you on a journey where you will release any anxieties about what is happening in the world outside.

Learning to let go of what we can't control.

Just staying with the breath.

Being aware that whatever the chaos of the world outside you are in control of your mind and body.

You can choose not to get swept away in the tide of panic.

Allowing these bothersome feelings to leave.

Freeing up space in your heart and mind for positive things.

Staying with the breath.

Sensation of cool air entering and warm air leaving.

Remaining in full control.

Just like the breath we accept that all things come and all things go.

Even global events will eventually pass.

Nothing is permanent.

All is transient.

Staying with the breath in full awareness.

Considering all of those things that have lowered your energy,

Mental and physical,

Over this past week or so.

The media coverage.

Constant chatter from worried neighbours.

The frantic shoppers.

All beings striving to take control but control driven by fear.

But this is your space now to let go of the tension and the stress.

Moving towards acceptance and a sense of release.

Staying with the breath.

Notice how the breath knows no effort.

It simply exists.

Just like the tide it comes and goes.

Like the sun it rises and falls.

Media knows how to truly let go.

Breathe.

Staying open and curious to how it would feel for your mind to let go.

Just let go completely.

Being present with all that is.

An observer watching with gentle wonderment at the frantic kinetic society in which we live.

Staying with the in breath and the out breath.

Not changing it in any way.

In life we can choose to accept that really the only thing we have full control over is our own mind.

Our own thoughts.

We choose whether to get swept away or remain centered.

We choose when to say no.

So even when the global energy is charged with uncertainty we remain grounded in the eye of the storm.

Knowing that this period of heavy weather will pass with time.

We have a choice.

Just breathe.

And as you move towards the last part of this meditation.

Embrace the change.

Dance with the uncertainty.

Finding the flow of the river the chi of the breath.

Letting go finally of any worries or anxieties that disturb your mind.

In this moment you are safe.

In this moment you are protected.

You are free from harm.

Returning to the white light now.

Picture in your minds eye a tsunami of light.

Looking over your home.

Your neighborhood.

Your place of work.

Your town.

Imagine this light spreading to distant communities.

All over the country.

Covering the people with healing waters of light.

A tsunami of light.

Spreading out far and wide until it fills the entire world.

Cleansing white light as pure as water.

Breathing out until the entire world is filled with cleansing,

Beautiful pure white light.

So finally now as we take deep breaths.

Allowing positive feelings to fill up the heart and mind.

Until you too are bathed in peace and calm.

Staying with this for a few more moments.

Gradually now in your own time returning your awareness.

Sensing the light behind your closed eyelids.

Becoming more aware of the room around you.

The sounds.

The sensations.

Bringing your attention fully back to the room.

And begin to open your eyes.

Keeping this sense of calm and peace and tranquility with you.

Throughout your day.
