You you you Hello We continue this morning with the daily satsang a transmission Just preparing for a quiet moment still moment Making sure that all around you is Quiet and relaxed Just getting into a comfortable position As you find a comfortable position just making sure that all technologies around you do not disturb this moment of stillness This moment of simply being present to Whatever is going on inside of you or around you This is known as being mindful of this present moment or being aware of this present moment It's a very useful and enjoyable experience To give yourself time to give yourself the space to just relax Understand that there is no need to chase this or that or to be stressed or anxious about this or that just to be here Enjoying the moment Sometimes we need a little bit of encouragement to enjoy the moment because we're so caught in the momentum of stress or anxiety that it seems like it is impossible to enjoy the present moment because there are too many other things happening Too many distractions,

Too many needs,

Too many situations that need your attention or need your participation So it's difficult to enjoy just doing nothing Just being And the idea of doing nothing goes quite against the way that the mind is used to Reacting or interacting with certain situations So already doing nothing becomes a stress in itself for some people because we try to do nothing So now we have to do nothing,

Let's start doing nothing and there is an activity in trying to do nothing And that activity leads to certain reactive process being set in motion So the mind begins to think too much because of course there is nothing concrete for the mind to latch onto So the mind begins to think okay what is this nothing doing situation,

What does it really mean and begins to try to understand it So the activity already brings your awareness out of the space of receptivity into a space that is termed as thinking by scientists and neuroscientists And that activity is the process where the mind just knows the situation as it is for the mind So the not doing or the just relaxing into the moment and enjoying the nothingness of this moment Going back to that which you know or that which the thinking mind is used to understanding through certain belief systems or certain ways of perceiving the world Or certain learnt skills or certain cultural or social information that have been assimilated as part of your personality Nothingness means having the courage to move beyond that which is known So moving into the unknown and for the mind that is very very difficult Because the mind needs to know the facts,

Needs to know the situation as the mind perceives it So to let go of that knowing however useful that knowing is perhaps it helps us to orientate ourselves in the world in a certain way Or understand the world so that we survive in a certain way However important that is in this moment of meditation it's not very important because there is nothing really that you need to do If you've turned your mobile phone off and if you've just made sure that all those distractions everyday mundane distractions that are part of your life are not interrupting your meditation Then there is truly nothing for the mind to do It's very difficult for the mind to accept this because it has a habit of doing So jumping into a space that is unknown to itself creates a certain amount of tension And this is universal for almost everyone especially western people,

Especially people Western people meaning everyone who works in this sort of cultural paradigm that we now in the world have accepted as reality Especially for those who have a lot of thoughts,

A lot of situations that need our attention Say mothers or people working in stressful or difficult situations,

People who have physical problems or emotional problems There is a lot of thinking to be done to try to resolve all these things So to let that go and to believe that okay if I let that go then everything will be okay For the mind that belief system is a big big big difficult situation I cannot really understand this situation as something that would be useful So we have to express to our minds that it's okay for the mind to just rest for a moment Just like when you fall asleep,

Just like when you relax before falling asleep If you continuously think or worry or stress about the day or next day or about a situation that hasn't been resolved Then it's very difficult to relax enough to fall asleep,

To move from one level of consciousness to another It is the same in meditation,

If you sit there being caught by the mundane It's just like sleep,

You just you'll stay awake to the mundane level of consciousness So to journey into the unknown requires a certain activity Right at the beginning of meditation there is an important activity that needs to happen So that the mind sort of understands that this activity is the next practice The next way of understanding reality,

The next way of interacting with reality And this is called receptivity So rather than reactivity,

You're asking the mind rather than to react to thoughts Okay you think about one thought and then you remember another thought And then that thought reminds you of another thought and then that thought worries you about this situation Then you start feeling bad and then you start the whole motion of mundane thinking Rather than that,

One can simply acknowledge that receptivity is an aspect of reality This means that you don't tell the mind,

You don't explain to the mind that you have to be receptive Just in the same way as when you're falling asleep,

You can't say to the mind Okay now you have to relax,

Stop thinking about this,

Stop worrying about this,

Stop feeling this Stop getting caught by this or that,

Stop doing all the things that you're doing If you continuously say this to your mind just before you fall asleep That's surely going to wake you up and you'll be sitting up on your bed and thinking I can't sleep My mind is just too active so then you'll go and get yourself,

I don't know,

Something to eat or something to drink Or you'll go and watch TV or you'll get so active that you'll get back into mundane consciousness In the same way you can't do this in meditation,

Can't say to your mind now it's time to be still Because the mind,

If it is reactive,

The mind will just say do you really think so?

And then will continue thinking,

It will react to your orders It will say you think you can tell me what to do,

Just watch what I can do And then the thoughts will continuously be there in the background And these are just the thoughts that you're aware of,

Conscious mind thoughts What about the subconscious?

It's a whole difficult situation for the mind So you have to explain to the mind that there is no need to do anything There is no need to quieten down or there is no need to become still or there is no need to do anything specific But explain that there is another possibility than reactivity And that is receptivity But how do you explain to a mind that only understands information through thinking?

If you begin to think about receptivity,

That's fine,

But it doesn't take you there It doesn't take you to the space that is receptive That's known as an intention,

So you're clear I'm sitting here now for half an hour,

My intention during these moments is just to let go My intention is to be receptive to the space Receptive and aware through my senses,

Receptive and aware of what's going on inside of me The way that I'm breathing,

The way that I'm feeling,

The way that I'm perceiving the world You can do this now,

Just explain this through your intention So you've made a decision See when you make a decision in this way,

You're acknowledging that you are free And you're showing your mind that you are free So the mind understands rather than react to situations And believe that there is only one possibility,

When you react,

There is only one possibility Something upsets you,

You get upset,

The mind says The only way to interact with this situation is to be upset,

There is no other way That's called reactivity,

But if you explain clearly through your practice Explain to your mind that you have a choice,

Through your practice,

Not through words Then the mind somehow aligns or tunes into that intentional way of practice that you're creating in this moment So if you say to your mind,

I have a choice,

I have a choice now,

This half an hour to go and stress And be living my mundane,

Whatever it is,

Life Or I have a moment,

20 minutes,

Half an hour A moment to just create a different space So then through your practice you've made a choice that your mind doesn't comprehend It's unknown for your mind what does this mean But you don't try to force your mind to understand what does this mean to be receptive You just say I have a choice in this moment So already choice means freedom,

And already freedom means that there are more choices that are possible Already when there are more choices you are manifesting even more choices So intention is almost magical because as soon as you create an intention It's not that you're creating through your willpower a decision to do things differently You're just saying for this moment of my practice I will do things differently Your body then relaxes because with freedom there is this wonderful experience of relaxing into wow The space is very different than the reactive one that I'm used to where there is only one choice The space is more spacious The space allows for me to see or to experience or to just be part of more choices So that means you have to relax and look around within yourself Look at the space that you've created through your intention and say wow I have several choices here So then all of a sudden as any sense of freedom that you may have experienced in the past There is a relief,

There is a sense of weight dropping off one's shoulders There is a sense of lightness and spaciousness that fills the space So already this receptive experience is the beginning of your journey You're receptive to the fact that you have more choices than when the mind is reactive to a situation or to a moment And your mind understands this so relaxes just like when you're falling asleep The mind understands that okay now I can let go and relax Your mind understands that it is okay to move into a deeper state of consciousness Where receptivity is your guide Where receptivity is just the space or the path Whereby your practice is affirmed,

Whereby your practice becomes light,

Spacious and transcendent So what we're doing right now,

You may feel this in your body,

You may experience this in the energy or the space that's within you or around you What we're doing is moving from the mundane and transcending to a realm that is unknown to the brain or to the mind It's another dimension of existence So as you breathe in and breathe out simply be present and receptive Be receptive to this wonderful spaciousness,

Lightness,

Transcendence,

Consciousness As we continue with the OO meditation As we continue with the OO meditation As we continue with the OO meditation As we continue with the OO meditation As we continue with the OO meditation As we continue with the OO meditation As we continue with the OO meditation
