We're lying in Shavasana,

The corpse pose.

Dan has been guiding us both in yoga,

Accompanied by songs from a playlist on his phone.

Now we've reached the end,

The most difficult pose,

Letting go.

I become aware of a mantra playing on his phone.

It's the same mantra I got from Ba.

I choose to go into the memory.

I remember sitting down next to her.

Soft bed.

Wrinkled face.

Smiling.

Her hand on the mala.

Her other hand on my hand.

It's not distant.

The memory is here and now.

Time is a strange thing.

After Shavasana,

Remembering that I'm going to die,

That I'm alive now,

That we're together now,

I choose to do the most important thing rather than what I had planned to do that day.

Dan and I sit down next to each other on the balcony.

We face the ever-new blue morning sky.

I tell him about my experience in Shavasana,

About Ba and how we would sit together in the morning with our malas.

As I tell him,

I get goosebumps all over and tears in my eyes.

This is how Ba is immortal,

I say.

And just as I say that,

A butterfly flutters by.

She flies between Dan and me,

Then off into the morning sky.

See for yourself.

Remember that you are made up of all those who have come before you,

Your ancestors,

That they are alive in you.

Think of those close to you in time,

Such as parents and grandparents.

Think of genes and personality traits that you share.

Think of shared memories.

Perhaps,

You can also think of more distant ancestors,

Perhaps even evolution involving various life forms over thousands of years.

Sense the body,

Knowing that this is a continuation.

Remember,

That you too will die.

You can imagine lying on your deathbed now.

What do you become aware of?

.

Remember that you are alive.

Right now,

Briefly.

What is the most important thing for you?

What do you want to do?

Notice in and around you how life never ends.

Only the manifestations and forms change.

What is the most important thing for you?
