In this meditation, the attention is guided to the silence that is always here, always present - it is simply a matter of orienting to it. The mind and emotions start to slow down and recede as they no longer are getting life and energy from the attention.

Okay,

Yes,

If you can go ahead and close your eyes,

Just allowing yourself to relax.

Just be aware of your body,

Be aware of how you are in the moment.

If there's any tensions,

Just allow them to relax.

Just being really easy in the body.

Just letting go.

There's nothing that we need to do in the moment.

So just,

First thing is just aware,

Just observing.

So obviously there's some running water in the background.

There might be some thoughts or some feelings.

But what I'd like you to orient your attention to is just a sense of ease or relaxation.

Somewhere where there's a sense of peace.

And that doesn't mean to push aside what might not be pleasant or peaceful.

It's just allowing those to be there.

And at the same time,

Just orienting the attention to a sense of stillness or space,

Relaxation.

And that just means really noticing it.

Noticing the quality of peace or stillness,

Relaxation.

So we're not concerned with the thoughts or the feelings.

They're there.

We're not trying to do anything with them.

They can do whatever they're doing.

Really just orienting our attention to whatever feels nice,

Okay,

Still,

Peaceful.

And you can even notice just in the gaps of when I'm not speaking.

The stillness or the quietness that's present.

Particularly noticeable when I'm not speaking.

It's not a dead space.

There's a stillness to it,

A life,

Liveness in it.

It's not just dead,

Boring.

And you can notice that your own thoughts might be trying to fill up that space,

That silence.

And that's okay.

Just aware that there's thoughts playing.

You might feel maybe a little bit of tension because we're doing something that might be new for you.

Sometimes there can be a little tension with that,

Something new.

But again,

That's fine.

Just noticing that.

It doesn't need to be changed.

Often just noticing,

Being aware,

Just makes it,

Oh,

Okay,

No problem.

So there's potency in the space when I'm not speaking.

And you can notice if your mind tries to then fill that space.

Good fundamental observations to make.

There's an inherent peace in this space,

In this silence.

And oftentimes it just needs someone to kind of point that out for us to notice that for ourself.

Can you notice the beauty in this silence,

The deep restfulness of it?

There's nothing that needs to be done.

No need to fill it or occupy it or make it busy.

This is the inherent stillness,

Silence of our own being,

Our own nature.

Before our mind takes over and ruins it all.

Noticing the restfulness,

The beauty of this silence.

What a relief it is.

It's what we're all looking for.

It's why we love deep,

Restful,

Dreamless sleep.

Silence.

And you can just be aware if your mind's trying to get your attention.

Hey,

Don't forget about me.

Just let that be.

Being aware of this silence.

This silence is really our deeper,

True nature.

Underneath all the busyness of our mind and our thoughts and our feelings.

This is what it's like to have just clear space.

There's nothing coming up and invading that space,

Occupying it.

It's clear,

Clean,

Unconditioned.

This is where you can see if there are any distractions that come in.

Something trying to distract your attention or pull your attention into a sequence of thoughts.

Silence is actually always here.

Just get distracted from it.

Eventually,

As the mind starts to settle down,

You just disappear into this silence.

It's just not an emptiness or a void.

It's this beauty,

Deep restfulness,

Power.

When you feel ready,

You can gently open your eyes.

Just with your eyes open,

Just noticing there's still this silence,

This space.

Wiggle your toes and stretch,

Move.
