Hello and welcome to your Dream Blooming Meditation.
Dream Blooming is a term frequently used by the Dharma Artist Collective led by Eric Godsey to describe the process of uncovering the message of a dream.
The purpose of this meditation is not to interpret the dream fully or to sit in heavy mental contemplation.
This practice is here to help the energetic signature of the dream unfold gently,
Somatically,
And intuitively.
If you wish to further interpret the dream after this meditation,
Robert Johnson's 4-step interpretation process is in the description.
This meditation is best done seated so you can consciously explore your dream state without fully re-entering sleep,
But listen to your body and trust whatever posture is being asked for.
Grab a journal,
Get cozy,
And we'll begin.
As you settle into your meditation posture,
Allow yourself to take 4-5 slow,
Deep rounds of breath.
As you're finding these deep breaths,
Let the muscles of your face soften and release.
Unclenching your jaw,
Finding spaciousness between your eyebrows,
Letting the muscles of your neck,
Your shoulders,
And your arms to relax as well.
Feeling where your hips are connected and grounded.
Feeling the heaviness and relaxation of your legs.
Bringing awareness to the way that the breath fills your torso,
How it gently expands the ribcage and the belly,
Breathing life into parts of the body that feel tense,
Welcoming a sense of ease and connectedness.
Let your awareness travel throughout the body and just familiarize yourself with the sensational landscape currently happening in the body.
Any tension,
Buzzing or tingling,
Just observing whatever aliveness is here.
Let your awareness scan the entire body without lingering in one place or another for too long.
Letting your awareness be loving,
Gentle,
And expansive,
And at the same time that you are attuning to the landscape of your body,
You can also attune to the landscape of the space that you are in.
If sounds are arising,
Let them be there.
Maybe you notice the temperature of the space you are in,
The contact of the air with your skin,
Acknowledging yourself in every element of now as an important piece of the fabric of the present moment.
Creating enough space within yourself to allow everything to just be.
As you continue to soften into the body in the present moment,
You can allow the dream that you want to recall to arise.
You don't need to recall every detail.
Even if you don't remember much of your dream,
A little bit really is enough.
It is a seed that can unfold and bloom.
If the dream that you are recalling is long and in-depth,
Allow the most prominent scene of the dream to arise.
As you revisit this dreamscape,
View it in a first-person perspective as if it is happening here and now.
What do you see?
What do you smell and feel?
What can you hear?
What energy is present?
Allow the scene of the dream to retell itself,
To come alive again in your psyche.
As the scene of this dream continues to unfold,
Notice the most prominent characters,
Symbols,
And sensations.
As you walk through the dreamscape,
Locate where you feel these prominent dream elements in your body,
Paying attention to the unique energetic signature of these dream elements and symbols,
And where they live in you now.
There's no need to overthink or analyze.
We're going from seeing the dream to fully feeling the dream,
How it somatically and intuitively arises in the body.
Remember that there is no right or wrong here.
Trust in the way that the dreamscape is communicating with and through the body.
As you continue to sense this dream somatically,
You can begin to make associations with these dream symbols and sensations.
What does this symbol remind you of in waking life?
Is this a pattern that you recognize in your conscious waking life?
When have you felt this way before?
Is there anyone or anything in your waking life that carries this same energetic signature?
Again,
Just trust whatever arises for you here.
The goal is not to fully interpret and understand everything right now.
Invoke an essence of curiosity,
Of creativity.
Allow this association process to continue unfolding naturally.
Let the energy of the dream move through you,
Not needing to fully understand or interpret.
Very gently begin to guide your awareness back into the physical body and the space that you are in,
And thank your dream for its visiting.
Thank it for the messages it has brought you.
Allow the dream to dissolve back into the soil of your psyche,
And allow yourself to ground back into the breath and the body.
You might welcome some gentle movement in your fingers,
Your toes,
Feeling the ground underneath you,
And as you're ready,
You can flutter your eyes open and notice what wants to be done next.
Perhaps you want to further the interpretation process,
Maybe you want to journal,
Create something,
Speak something,
Share something,
Follow what feels alive.
Thank you for joining this practice,
And I'll see you in the next one.
Namaste.
