Welcome to another episode of Silent Superheroes,

Where we use the power of slow,

Calm breathing to give us real world superpowers.

So let's take a big slow breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.

So today,

We're going to talk about going to kinder or going to school.

You know the good thing about going to school is that school is another place you can get real world superpowers.

Because at school,

They teach you how to read,

They teach you how to write,

They teach you how to play super fun games and do you know what?

With all of those skills,

You'll be able to do so much fun stuff.

But sometimes it can be a little bit scary or a little bit tiring or just a little bit annoying to have to get up and get yourself your uniform on and your breakfast eaten and getting in the car.

It can be a bit tedious.

But with the power of slow,

Calm breathing,

I think we'll be able to really get ourselves there and make ourselves have a great,

Fun time.

So let's take maybe three slow,

Calm breaths and we'll start getting ourselves ready.

So when you're getting yourself ready,

You're going to start getting yourself ready to go on.

So when you're getting yourself ready for kinder,

There's a few things that you've got to do.

Now everyone's process is different,

But there's some things that I know everyone has to do.

You have to get yourself ready.

So that might mean brushing your teeth,

Might mean having some food,

Might mean putting some clothes on,

Maybe a uniform or some special gear that you're going to wear just for kinder or just for primary school.

So what I want you to do is,

As you're going through that process,

As you're doing the morning routine,

If you start getting a little bit worried or sad or angry or frustrated or anything like that,

Just pause and take a big slow breath and then get back to it.

And if those feelings come back again,

If you start worrying,

If you start feeling frustrated,

If you don't feel like doing it,

That's okay.

Just let your mum or your dad or your grandparents or your carers know that you're having just a little bit of funny feelings.

Maybe talk to them,

Say,

Hey,

I'm a little bit worried or hey,

This person said this thing and I'm freaking out a little bit or hey,

I just need to talk about this.

And they'll listen and they'll say,

Yes,

Tell me more.

And if you feel like you can't talk,

You know what you need to do?

Big slow breath.

And as you're getting into your car,

On the way there,

You can play some games with your parents or your carers or your grandparents.

You could talk about what you're seeing out of the window or what you're going to do that day at kinder or what you're going to do after.

You can have some fun or maybe you can play some music.

There's so much stuff that you can do.

And you can take big slow breaths to calm yourself down if you're worried.

And you know what you can do during the day when you're at kinder or when you're at school?

Well in between activities or during the activities,

If you're a little bit worried or you're not sure about what to do or someone's maybe being a little bit mean or saying something that you don't quite understand,

Just go up to your teacher and say,

Hey,

Can you please help me or I just don't know what to do with myself right now.

I'm a little bit bored.

Do you have an idea of what I can do?

And your teacher will say,

Sure,

Why don't you do this thing?

Why don't you try that game?

Why don't you play with this person?

And they'll give you such good ideas.

And before you know it,

You'll be having a super,

Super fun time at kinder or school.

And you know what you're doing there?

You're learning how to read,

How to write,

How to play a whole variety of things.

And those things will give you real world superpowers.

Very soon you're going to be able to read books all by yourself,

Which means that every book in the library will be open to you.

Any games that you play that have reading in them,

You can do that reading.

That will be all you.

So think of how much fun you can have.

So if you're ever concerned or worried or angry or frustrated about going to kinder or school,

Just take a few slow breaths.

Great work,

You little silent superhero.

Have a great day.

A guidebook to the present moment.
