This Yoga Nidra practice is an invitation to return home to yourself. When we are triggered, we often slip into old patterns of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. These responses once kept us safe but no longer serve the fullness of who we are. In this guided meditation, you will be gently led through breath, body awareness, and stillness to soothe the young one within and reconnect with your authentic self. Through a slow body scan and deep rest, your nervous system is offered space to release, restore, and settle into safety. This practice reminds you that peace is not found outside of you; it lives within. As you rest back into this truth, you soften into your own wholeness and return to the world more grounded, open, and free.

Triggers are all around us.

When we become triggered,

We lose sight of our authentic selves and we begin to operate from our pre-programmed nervous system states that are attempting to keep us safe.

What our wise bodies miss is that our trigger doesn't necessarily mean that we are in danger.

It just feels like we are.

Subconsciously,

We go into patterns of fight,

Flight,

Or freeze.

Sometimes we fawn and attempt to make others comfortable so we can sit back into our seat of safety.

This points to how long ago these pre-programmed responses became wired into us.

Our young selves didn't have many choices to survive our circumstances,

And our young brains weren't developed to understand the complexities of relationship dynamics and the challenges of life.

Our wise adult selves can now know what the young one within couldn't,

That safety does not lie in another's hands.

Safety is only found within.

We are capable of making decisions based on our current felt sense of what is and is not okay for us.

We are now able to create boundaries that allow us to love others without resentment.

This is our work,

To connect with ourselves and soothe the young one within,

To see what it is we are needing and offer it to ourselves.

When we do,

We relax back into the truth of who we are and become a blessing to all that we come into contact with.

We can finally stop guarding and start gifting.

This meditation meets your nervous system where it is and offers it restoration so you can emerge feeling more like yourself.

So lie down and make yourself as comfortable as you can.

Gather a blanket or eye mask,

Set yourself up with pillows and give yourself time to adjust until you can come to stillness.

Take a slow,

Steady breath in through the nose and release it out the mouth.

Another deep breath in and a full release out.

Allow your body to soften into the ground beneath you.

With each exhale,

Give yourself permission to arrive in the present moment more fully.

Let the mind rest.

There is nowhere to go,

Nothing to solve.

Only this moment,

Only this breath.

Notice your body and bring your attention to your right hand thumb,

Middle finger,

Ring finger,

The whole right side of the body,

The whole left side of the body,

The whole body together,

One unified field of awareness.

Now let go of direction,

No need to place attention anywhere.

Simply allow the body to breathe itself.

Thoughts may come,

Sensations may arise.

Let them drift through like clouds in the sky.

Return again and again to stillness.

Notice the support beneath you.

Notice the steadiness of your breath.

Remember,

Safety resides within.

You are capable of meeting yourself with love and clarity.

When you soothe the young one within,

You live more from your authentic self.

Go ahead and take a deep breath in and a full breath out.

Begin to gently wiggle your fingers and toes.

And allow movement to return,

Stretching in any way that feels nourishing.

As you return to your day,

Carry with you this truth.

You are safe,

You are whole,

You are free.
