This guided meditation is here to help support you in letting go of your past.
We have had many experiences in our lives,
Both lived and received by others.
We have stories that were placed onto us and then internalized as our own through subconscious repetition.
With this guided meditation,
We can start to see our past clearly,
The stories we continue to tell ourselves by the words we speak or the thoughts we think,
And unravel them to let go.
I invite you now to close your eyes or have them be at a soft gaze and start to bring your awareness into your breath,
Focusing on the coolness of the air as it comes in through the nose and the warmth as it comes out.
It may be helpful to take a deep breath in through the nose and an audible ah through the mouth,
Releasing the tension in your mind and heart and allowing your forehead,
Jaw,
Shoulders,
And hips to relax.
With each breath in,
You get closer to yourself and with each breath out,
You let go.
Imagine in front of you is a tightly knotted ball of string.
The string represents you and the knots are each moment in your life when you've experienced something that has created doubt,
Fear,
Or anxiety.
Some of these knots are just moments in the string and others are knotted upon themselves multiple times,
Difficult to decipher where it even began or how they even got there.
When you look at this knotted ball of string,
You may think you are the ball,
The experiences,
The doubt,
The fear,
The anxiety.
The tightness of the knots wrapped around itself can feel like protection and the experiences you are holding onto are familiar and can feel safe.
But when you look at this ball,
You can see that it is not free.
It is not free to move,
To flow,
To experience life.
It is stuck within itself.
Sitting here in front of this ball,
There is a knot at the end of the string,
An experience that has kept you stuck,
That has kept you from letting go.
I invite you to imagine placing this knot in your hand and being here with it.
To not ignore it,
But to see it as it is,
Feeling the vibration of it in your body.
You can say to yourself,
I see you within me and I am present with you.
We can take a moment to acknowledge these knots and what they provided you.
Protection and comfort to make you feel safe and also recognize that it no longer serves you.
You can say to yourself gently,
I acknowledge your purpose and it no longer serves me.
Imagine placing the knot in between your fingertips.
If it is helpful,
You can bring your thumb,
Index and middle fingers to touch,
Creating gentle circles.
Without rushing,
Slowly with your breath,
You start to coax the knot to soften,
To let go,
To unravel.
You can say to yourself,
I allow myself to gently move through you.
As you unravel this knot,
Take a moment to thank yourself for sitting and being present with it,
To recognize its previous hold and its ultimate release.
Saying to yourself,
I am grateful and calm and letting go.
Each day,
You can take a few moments to check in with yourself,
To sit with your knots,
To breathe,
To acknowledge and see what it's given you and ultimately unravel them and let it go.
It is not required to release every knot every day if you feel the pressure to do so.
Be patient,
Kind and gentle with yourself.
Take the next few moments to sit with your breath,
Seeing the string before you,
Feeling the freedom you offer to yourself in this moment.
You can say to yourself,
I let go,
I am free.
