This short meditation is about staying curious, keeping your brain engaged, and finding playfulness in the everyday. As I recover from surgery, I’ve started playing Wordle each morning, not just for fun, but to keep my neurodiverse mind active and curious. It’s a reminder that rest doesn’t always mean stillness. Sometimes, it’s found in small rituals that give our brains a reason to light up, a balance of focus, patience, and humour. And like Wordle, life is mostly trial and error… but getting closer is still a win.

Hello,

I'm Alice,

And today's micromeditation is called the Wordle of Life.

I've recently started playing Wordle every day.

It's become a small ritual I can do while I recover from knee surgery,

A way to keep my brain engaged and a little bit curious.

Now,

I've never been one for words or numbers,

Being both dyslexic and dyscalculic.

Like many of us with ADHD,

Those things never came easily.

But our brains need play,

They need challenge,

Variety and reward,

A reason to light up.

And when I finally get that five-letter word,

After all the wrong guesses,

I get this tiny dopamine hit.

It's a reminder that effort,

Patience and creating an enjoyable ritual around a task can make even the smallest wins feel meaningful.

Now,

Let's arrive in this moment,

And if it feels comfortable for you,

Close your eyes or soften your gaze.

Take a moment to settle wherever you are.

Let your body rest.

Relax the face,

The jaw.

Relax your shoulders.

Let yourself soften just a little.

There's nowhere else you need to be right now.

And if it feels comfortable for you,

Become aware of your breath.

In your own way and in your own time,

Breathe in and out.

Each inhale,

An invitation to focus.

Each exhale,

Quiet release.

Like wordle,

Trial and error,

Curiosity and patience,

All happening one breath at a time.

Continue to breathe just in your own way.

Every wordle begins the same way,

A blank grid and endless possibilities.

Just like each day,

And much like life,

Sometimes you get it right straight away.

Other times you try and fail,

Try again,

Adjust,

And get closer.

Our neurodiverse brains learn through play and through mistakes.

It's often the key to engagement.

It's how we keep our dopamine flowing,

Our curiosity alive,

And our confidence intact.

Rest isn't always about stopping.

Sometimes rest is doing something small,

Absorbing,

And kind to your brain,

Something that gives you focus without pressure.

So maybe your version of wordle is gardening,

Sketching,

People watching,

Or even staring at the ceiling while ideas rearrange themselves.

Whatever it is,

Let it be playful.

Let it be enough.

And in your own way,

Take a gentle breath in and exhale slowly.

Notice the small ways you already care for your mind,

The ways you stay curious,

Engaged,

And alive.

And remember,

Even when you don't get the word right in life or in wordle,

It's the trying that keeps your brain flexible and awake.

As Maya Angelou once said,

You can't use up creativity.

The more you use,

The more you have.

So keep using your beautiful,

Creative mind,

One word,

One guess.

One day at a time.

I hope you enjoyed today's radical rest,

And I hope you're able to carry this small calm with you and know that this is a space you can return whenever you need.
