Welcome.
This is a meditation for softening and steady awareness.
A meditation on compassion as presence.
Take a moment to settle into a position that feels supportive for your body.
You may sit upright with a relaxed spine or lie down and allow yourself to be fully supported.
Let your hands rest gently.
Or if it feels more comfortable for you today,
Perhaps place one hand to your heart and one hand to your belly.
Take a slow breath in through the nose and an easy breath out.
Allow the exhale to soften your shoulders,
Your jaw,
Your belly.
Remind yourself in this moment that there is nothing to fix here.
Begin by noticing your breath.
Not controlling it,
Not deepening it,
Just noticing.
Notice sensations in your body.
Notice any thoughts passing through.
And then gently notice the awareness that is aware.
Thoughts move.
Sensation shift.
Awareness remains steady.
Rest there for a few breaths.
Now I invite you to bring your mind to something small that feels tender.
Not a big wound,
Just something human.
A moment of self-criticism,
A recent stress,
A feeling of being tired or stretched thin.
You are not analyzing it.
You are simply acknowledging it.
And instead of trying to change it,
If you have not already placed one hand over your heart,
If that feels comfortable.
Take a slow breath in.
And as you exhale,
Silently offer yourself these words.
May I meet this moment with kindness.
And pause.
May I allow myself to be human.
And pause.
May I respond with patience instead of pressure.
And pause.
Let these phrases be gentle.
See what arrives for you as you hold yourself here.
Compassion is a steady presence.
Be with that in this moment.
I invite you to notice something subtle.
The feeling may shift,
It may not.
But awareness is still here.
Compassion is not about making discomfort disappear.
It's about widening the space around it.
Imagine your awareness expanding slightly.
Making room for what you feel.
Without being consumed by it.
Like you're holding something fragile with open hands.
If it feels natural for you,
Bring to mind someone else.
Someone who is also navigating something human.
Not someone extremely difficult,
Just someone real.
And gently offer,
May you be supported.
May you feel steadiness.
May you meet your experience with compassion.
Notice what happens in your body as you extend this.
There's no right reaction.
Simply observe.
Now allow all images to fade.
Return to your breath.
Notice the simple fact that being human includes effort,
Emotion,
Growth,
And imperfection.
Compassion is not weakness.
Compassion is the strength to remain open.
Rest in understanding.
Take a moment here to yourself.
Let your breath return to its natural rhythm.
Notice your body.
Notice the quiet awareness beneath everything.
Compassion begins here.
Not as something that we manufacture.
But perhaps as something we uncover.
Take one slightly deeper breath in and a steady breath out.
When you are ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Carry this quiet steadiness with you.
You do not need to be perfect to be worthy of kindness.
And in fact,
You are perfect just the way that you are.
