Welcome everyone to this solstice meditation,

The longest day of the year.

We are grateful to Mother Earth,

Father Sun,

For bringing all that we have around us.

And for this solstice meditation,

I've chosen to be in the mountains next to a mountain stream to enjoy the nurturance of water,

The green that is created from the sun,

And the oxygen that is shared by the greenery for our sustenance.

As we begin our practice today,

Please find a comfortable position for your meditation,

Or about 10 minutes or so.

Wherever that is for you,

May it be comfortable and alert,

Relaxed,

Yet attentive.

Our central theme for this solstice meditation is,

I am the sender and receiver of reality.

Once we realize the central role we play in creating our life,

We will embrace every day as a new world.

Renewal is effortless and spontaneous.

So in this summer solstice,

Let us remember that we are the sender and the receiver of our reality.

Anything that we believe,

That we think our mind believes.

And so let's remember that we are the central player in our life.

Beginning by bringing our attention to the breath,

Going in and out of our body.

Whichever anchor is right for you,

Either the lower belly,

Chest,

Or the nostril,

Upper lip.

Bring your focus there.

Bring your mind,

The attention of your mind to that anchor.

Noticing the breath,

Going in and going out.

At the same time,

We can feel grounded in the sound of the mountain stream.

The life of the mountains starting way up high in springs and snowpack.

Just like our breath starts.

And the mind comes into our body to bring a stream of nourishment.

Greenery around us sharing oxygen with our body.

We take it in and letting out that which nature uses for its sustenance.

So for the next minute,

Let's use the breath as our attention anchor.

Just watch it going in and going out.

Curious of what it feels like and what are the sensations in the body as we breathe in and out.

Looking out at the water,

It feels like everything's functional.

With the central theme of being the sender and receiver of reality and our central role in creating our life,

I'd like to read you a poem entitled,

Coming Home by Kai Seidenberg.

After a long and sometimes difficult journey,

I have finally arrived at the place that was waiting for me all along.

I have come home to myself.

My spirit guides gather round,

Wrap a warm shawl around my shoulders and say,

Welcome home child,

We've been waiting for you.

Now that I'm finally here,

I wonder why it took so long.

It all seems so simple now.

But every step on that long and winding path helped bring me home to this place.

As we continue our meditation,

I invite us to think of that coming home,

Coming home and receiving and sending this present moment reality.

As I breathe in,

I know I'm breathing in nourishment.

As I breathe out,

I ground myself in this moment.

Listening to the sound of the mountain stream trickling,

Even rushing like a breath going in and out of our body,

Streaming through,

Creating life.

And with the ringing of the bell,

We'll bring this meditation to a close,

Reminded that we are senders and receivers of our own reality.

And I thank you for joining me for this summer solstice meditation,

Celebrating coming home to ourselves with nature,

Nurturing us every step of the way.

Thank you for your practice and for your time.
