This is a short somatic attunement meditation for grounding and coherence building.
Coherence means bringing everything into resonance,
Balance and alignment so that you feel more centered and steady as you go through life,
More able to feel resilient and calm and grounded.
So the goal with this meditation is to increase our sensations of being present in the here and now,
And relaxing as much as we can our inner state,
Relaxing where we can our inner atmosphere,
Our inner ecosystem,
Our internal environment.
So settle yourself into your chair now,
Your back against the chair,
Or maybe your back is against the wall,
Or maybe you're lying down,
And close down your eyes or soften your eyes.
You can rest your hands anywhere which feels comfortable to you,
Just be sure that they're relaxing and not tensed,
Preferably the hands are not touching each other or folded.
And now with your eyes closed and your body beginning to be still,
I'd just like you to take a screenshot of where your mind is right now,
A screenshot of your inner mental landscape,
Your inner mental environment.
Just taking a screenshot like that,
Just imagining that you're taking a screenshot of what is going on there.
Is it busy?
Is there a lot of activity?
Is there racing thoughts,
Racing thinking?
Or is it still?
Is it growing stiller?
Just notice what you find,
Take a moment.
All you need to do is take a mental picture of that,
Nothing else.
We are witnessing our current mental state,
Taking that screenshot of what we find there in our mind,
In our mental landscape.
And now,
Having done this,
Take another picture,
Another screenshot,
This time of your emotional state.
What is going on there in your emotions right now?
Is it frantic?
Is it anxious?
Is it sad?
Is it peaceful?
Is it happy?
Is it calm?
What is alive in you right now?
Just take a moment there,
There's no rush,
Take your time,
Take a screenshot of what's going on emotionally for you right now.
And now,
Come to your body,
Feel your body,
And how this might be affected by your emotional landscape.
What do you witness right now?
Are you pulsing?
Are you racing?
Are you still?
Are you calm?
Can you feel your body well?
Or do you not feel your body at all?
Is there some numbness?
Is there some tension or stiffness?
Or maybe your body feels open,
Maybe your body feels fluid and easy.
What are you aware of?
What do you find here in your body?
Take a screenshot of that too.
And whatever your current mental landscape,
Whatever your current emotional landscape,
And whatever your current body landscape,
You have those three memos of those now.
And so we can move on to our breath.
And just notice your breath.
Notice maybe if your breath has changed from when we first started this attunement and this meditation.
How is your breath today?
The breath changes every day from day to day.
It's rarely the same.
So just notice your breath in this moment.
How is it with my breath today,
With my breathing?
Is it easy and flowing?
Is it tense?
Does it seem like my breath gets stuck somewhere in my body?
Does my breath fill my lungs up all the way?
Or does it feel like it's only halfway?
What part of my body am I breathing into?
Is it my stomach?
Is it my chest?
Is it somewhere in between?
Just notice your breath,
How it is with your breath today.
Don't judge or change or try to influence it.
And then take another screenshot.
Another screenshot of your breath.
Taking your time with that.
And now we can also move on to synchronising the breath,
The body,
The emotions,
The mind with the heart.
And just notice now,
Bring your attention to your heart.
The space where you imagine your heart to be.
Maybe that's around your sternum,
The middle of your chest,
The heart chakra space.
Or maybe you visualise the actual physical heart beating and pumping.
Whatever it is for you,
Just bring your attention there,
Gently and patiently and with great curiosity.
To the heart,
Allowing whatever you find.
How is it with my heart today?
Just breathe in your heart,
Not trying to change anything.
Maybe it's accessible to you and easy to go there in your awareness.
Maybe it's less easy.
Maybe it's slightly numb and closed off.
Maybe it's heavy.
Maybe it seems sad.
Maybe it's light and easy.
Whatever you find,
Just take another screenshot.
Take that screenshot of what you find in your heart at this moment,
On this day.
And when you're ready,
We move on to the soul.
Bring your awareness to your soul,
Your spirit,
Your essence.
However this presents for you,
Whether you have a good way of tuning into that,
Or whether it's new and a little bit strange to tune into it.
Whatever works for you.
It may be slightly different every time,
But just noticing your soul,
Your spirit,
And maybe asking,
How is it with my soul today?
How is it with my soul today?
How are things?
And just again,
Noticing,
Not changing or influencing,
Not judging.
Being patient,
Curious.
Just bringing awareness there to your soul,
To your spirit,
To your essence.
Doing that softly,
Not forcing it,
Not willing it to look a certain way or feel a certain way.
Just being soft with that and gentle,
So that your awareness goes there by itself.
So we don't force it or push it.
Our awareness finds the soul.
Our soul finds our awareness and our attention.
And maybe when you feel like you're there,
Take another screenshot.
How is it with my soul today?
And take in that screenshot of what you find.
So that you have these six screenshots.
We can start to synchronise these.
Synchronising the screenshots that we've collected and gathered.
And now,
Can you say to yourself,
I notice these feeling states.
I notice how I'm feeling.
I am with my mind.
I am with my emotions.
I am with my body.
I am with my breath.
I am with my heart.
I am with my soul.
I am with all parts of me.
Here I am.
I am with me.
Here I am.
Here I am.
It is enough.
Here I am.
And just keep observing.
Just keep witnessing.
There's no need to do more.
You might feel resistance to these words.
Or you might feel comfort and relief to these words.
Whichever it is,
Maybe neither of these,
But offer no judgement and continue your awareness.
That's all that is needed.
Awareness.
And noticing.
And witnessing.
And if there are areas of your body which you can't feel well,
Or which you seem to have less access to,
That's okay.
That's okay.
Just let them be there.
Just notice.
And just being aware.
Noticing and aware.
Aware.
Present.
Sensing presence.
Sensing the invisible thread between these six ways of being.
These six states.
The screenshot that we took of the mind.
The screenshot of our emotions.
Threading them all together with the body,
With the breath.
Weaving them with the heart and with the soul.
Sensing our alertness.
Sensing our aliveness.
Witnessing ourselves.
Witnessing our mind,
Our emotions,
Our body,
Our breath,
Our heart,
Our soul.
Getting to know them.
Getting to know them one step at a time.
And you can stay here for as long as you would like to.
And you can come back to this meditation any time that you need to.
And over time,
Gradually learning to build this coherence,
So it can become a tool for you in life,
In wellness.
A tool for you in your corner,
Whenever you need it,
On your healing journey.
And when you're ready,
You can gently bring awareness to your hands,
To your feet,
Your toes,
Your limbs,
Your face.
And when you're ready,
You can start to blink open your eyes.
Take a look around the room that you're in,
Away from the screen.
Looking all around the room,
Slowly,
At your own pace.
And take any movements you would like to make.
Any stretches.
Anything that you need to do.
