This meditation is intended to cultivate an energy of openness, gentleness, acceptance, and trust in times of distress. By tuning into the present moment, unwinding the body from a state of contraction, and aligning oneself with the greater flow of life, we create the conditions for a more graceful relationship with ourselves during difficult life events.

Welcome to this meditation.

Perhaps you find yourself here in a moment of distress or feeling imbalanced and dysregulated.

This meditation is created with the intention of bringing you back into alignment and helping you to cultivate your personal resources to cope with stress in this moment.

So we'll start by taking a few clearing breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth,

Allowing your exhales to become long and complete and letting your body feel just a bit more soft and open.

Let's see if you can scan your body and notice the places where you feel constricted and invite yourself to let go of a little bit more of that resistance that you may be feeling in this moment.

Trust that there is a flow,

A current to this life.

It is greater than you.

It has existed long before you and it will continue to exist long after you.

Perhaps as you continue to open yourself,

Your senses,

You can begin to receive and notice this flow of life all around and within you.

Feel yourself continue to soften and merge with this flow.

Practice radical acceptance.

Say yes to everything that is here.

Let it in and just allow yourself to feel what you have to feel in this moment.

There is no good,

No bad,

No should.

Perhaps this is a moment of difficulty,

Of suffering for you.

There may be circumstances beyond your control.

The only thing that you can really control is within you,

How you meet this moment right now.

What are the labels that you are placing on this moment?

How are you choosing to identify and define what is happening?

Are you using a lens of compassion or judgment?

You can also control your breath and your body to some extent,

Letting your exhales be generous and slow.

If there is a really strong sense of tension or contraction that you are still feeling in your body,

You can begin to let your exhales be audible,

Creating a soothing sound with every out breath.

Feel your body sink into whatever surface is underneath you.

Feel gravity settling your bones and continuing to uncover more space within you to hold this moment.

Let it come,

Let it go.

Trust your body.

Trust this flow and staying here in this space of stillness,

Humility,

Perhaps even reverence for what you're experiencing as long as you need.

If you're ready to close,

Bringing palms together at the heart,

Closing the eyes and bowing the head as you greet yourself with love and gratitude.

Thank you.

Wishing you well.
