In this video,
I want to answer a question that a viewer asked recently,
Just a few hours ago actually.
It was something to do with the fact that she was feeling extremely ungrounded because of all of the things that are going on on the planet right now.
Because of all the negative news that's coming at her every single day,
Every single moment.
Because of all this ungrounding,
She was feeling extremely conscious of the fact that she is not doing well at all.
And she was getting a lot of anxiety in her body and just basically leaving her body because she was not able to stay in it.
Because of all the fear and doubt and anxiety that was being garnered by the coronavirus incidents and all the deaths and all the suffering on the planet right now.
The interesting thing to me actually was not to negate this person's experience,
But there is suffering on the planet all the time.
In fact,
There's been a lot of suffering in the last.
.
.
In general,
All the time there's a lot of suffering in terms of animals,
Cruelty and sex slavery and child slavery.
I mean there's always a lot of stuff going on.
The only thing right now is that we're more cognizant or aware of what's going on because a lot of us are directly influenced perhaps by it.
You know,
Everyone is paying more attention to this incident about the coronavirus because they might be directly influenced by it or affected by it because they might get it.
SARS virus was very big as well and a lot of people suffered because of it in Hong Kong,
But it didn't affect us because it wasn't coming to our area or our country.
So we're like,
All right,
Cool,
C'est la vie,
You know,
It doesn't really matter because it doesn't affect me.
Same thing with the bushfires in Australia.
Half a billion animals died because of it.
That's a lot of suffering.
That's a lot of negative energy in the atmosphere.
But again,
It was in Australia.
It's over there.
It's fine.
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't affect me.
So I'm not going to think about it.
That actually really irks me,
Obviously,
As you guys can tell.
But in general,
As I said,
There is a lot of suffering.
But yes,
There is suffering right now that perhaps affects you directly and you're feeling a little bit anxious,
A lot anxious,
And a little bit or a lot ungrounded by it.
I've done videos on how to ground yourself in the past and all of those techniques will definitely apply here.
So,
You know,
Going for a walk in nature,
Doing something physical that allows you to bring yourself back into your body,
Building your mind-body connection by meditation or yoga.
Yoga is a really good technique for it.
You don't really have to do like power yoga or any crazy poses like that.
Very simple basic pose like the baby pose or child's pose.
Not the baby pose,
The child's pose.
You can do the child's pose and that in itself is very good pose,
Right?
It's a very easy pose.
It's basically like you're going back into the womb and a very easy pose to bring yourself back into your body.
It really allows you to just instantly pop back in.
So like things like that,
Obviously,
Little techniques like that are obviously very poignant.
But in this regard right now for this specific situation,
There's a couple of things you can do for sure that for me I found very useful.
And it's kind of a little bit difficult to say because a lot of people are very much into social media right now because they want to keep up with the news and they want to make sure that they know exactly what's going on on the planet and they want to be cognizant or conscious of what's going on with everyone else around them and their families around the world,
Things like that.
And so in general,
It's telling people stop going on social media because that's really going to affect your grounding and your anxiety levels or stop looking at the news every hour on the hour as if you're a newscaster.
That again,
People are like,
Well,
I need to know what's going on.
Unfortunately,
A lot of people are actually normally,
Perhaps they might not spend that much time on the news,
But nowadays a lot of people are just basically spending all of their time on the news and on social media trying to catch up on what's going on in the world,
What's going on in the US.
There's so many cases there.
Why?
Why are there some people dying in Italy?
What are we supposed to do?
How are we supposed to protect ourselves and what's going on with the economy?
So yes,
There's a lot of information that we need to get into our system in order to live and to be aware of what's going on.
Absolutely.
But I've tried as much as possible again to limit my time on social media because that literally is one of the biggest things that causes my consciousness and my grounding levels to just kind of topple over.
And it just makes me go crazy in my head.
So social media again,
Instagram is my big,
Big nemesis because I love Instagram.
I love aesthetically pleasing photos of food.
And other photos.
And so I spend a lot of time looking at pictures of food on Instagram.
But then obviously other things come into play and I end up seeing other things and I kind of follow their rabbit hole of going into conspiracy theories and all of a sudden I'm like paranoid and anxious and doubtful about the whole universe.
And I'm just feeling crazy in my head,
Right?
And so of course we all do this.
But I've very much been trying to limit my time on Instagram as much as possible.
And if I am on it,
I'm trying to stay on the on the mean side of it.
You know,
Trying to look at the humor of the situation that we're in rather than looking at the dire situation that we're in.
Again,
Also the same thing with news.
It's very easy to get up in the morning and the first thing you do is switch on the news to see what's going on in the world.
And very easy to look at the news right before you go to sleep.
And that's the last thing you do.
And then in the middle,
You're looking at the news 10 times a day or looking at the stats on how many people died or how many people are affected by coronavirus,
Things like that.
It's very easy to get into that cycle,
That vicious cycle of just checking the news over and over again to figure out what's going on.
But again,
If you want to keep your sanity levels,
Because it's very important in this time,
Especially to keep your immune system up.
And if you get very anxious,
Your immune system goes down as well.
And so really our prerogative is to keep your immune system up.
And to do that is to avoid or to look at the news at least only once or twice a day.
Really try to restrict it for yourself,
Especially if you're an anxious person.
Some people don't care.
They can look at the news a billion times a day and it doesn't affect them.
If you're one of those people,
Cool.
You know,
For you,
It's fine.
But a lot of us,
For me especially,
I really don't.
I look at the news once a day and I look at it to figure out what's going on.
And that's it.
You know,
And the funny thing is that I don't really need to look at the news because there are hundreds of people in my life,
Hundreds,
Not hundreds,
Dozens of people in my life.
And if something happens,
Even in Thailand,
When I was in Thailand,
Chiang Mai,
I didn't even need to look at the news because as soon as something happened,
People would tell me that something's going on.
People would message me,
Be like,
Did you share about this?
I'm like,
Uh,
Yeah,
No,
I didn't.
But thank you for letting me know.
But it's kind of fascinating to me that I didn't even need to look at it.
You know,
People were always messaging me with news and I'm like,
Why are you doing this?
Why are you guys looking at news in Bangkok?
But of course they're my family or friends and they care about me.
And so again,
I didn't even need to look at it because people would message me.
I'd get up in the morning and I'd get a thousand messages,
This happened here and there was a bomb threat there and are you okay?
And I'm like,
I'm in Chiang Mai and Bangkok is far away,
But thank you for letting me know.
So again,
Like,
I mean,
That is the kind of thing that we're kind of dealing with here.
In general,
Though,
As I said,
If you are an anxious individual right now to limit your time on social media and listening to the news is going to be really useful to you.
In addition to all the other things that we are doing,
Hopefully anyways,
You know,
Hopefully you are doing a lot of self-care.
Hopefully you're doing a lot of physical activity in the way that maybe you're going for a walk in nature or walk in general is very helpful.
And then doing a little bit of yoga poses or dancing or whatever your physical activity is,
Maybe a hike,
Maybe whatever that means to you.
And then obviously taking care of yourself in terms of eating enough food,
Eating at the right times,
Not skipping meals,
Not skipping your sleep,
Not skipping drinking water,
Not skipping any of that self-care stuff.
All of that obviously helps and all that is the foundation of grounding.
But right now in this moment in time,
I think the news and the social media is something that really has to be carefully,
Carefully consumed because it really is a very difficult,
It's not,
It's a difficult time to be in that sphere because there's a lot of negative information and very little positive information that's going on around in the world right now.
Very,
Very little positive information.
Of course,
It makes sense.
I mean,
There's a lot of crazy things going on right now,
But again,
It will not help you if you get anxious or doubtful or fearful and then your immune system drops and then you get sick because of it.
Of course,
That's not going to help.
So the main priority for every one of us is to protect ourselves,
Not only because you know your health is important,
But also why burden the health care system is already burdened?
Why burden your family when they're already worried about what's going on in the world?
And why burden anyone else because,
Or yourself,
Because it's better to take care of yourself,
Make sure you're healthy.
And so there's,
That's one less person the world has to worry about,
Right?
And so I hope this helps.
I hope the person who asked this question will find this useful.
Again,
In general,
It's a process and it takes time.
It's not that you just do one thing one day and you're done.
Every single day we have to re-begin the process of grounding.
Every single day you have to ground yourself over and over and over again in order to keep yourself going.
It's not a one-time thing and you're done,
Right?
So every single morning you wake up and you eat your food,
You eat your delicious,
Healthy foods.
And then every single morning you wake up and you do your self-care routines.
Every single day you get up and you do your grounding techniques.
Every single day you avoid social media or news as much as possible.
And every single day you keep on doing it.
And as soon as you stop,
You're going to notice the effect of it.
The fact that you're,
If you stop,
Your grounding level will definitely go down.
So it's a process,
A long-term process.
It's a lifetime process.
You keep on doing it until you die,
Basically.
I hope you guys enjoyed the video.
I hope you found it useful and that you were able to hopefully take some things away from it and use it in your own life.
