Today's meditation is all about gratitude.

Gratitude is a quick and easy way to boost and uplift your mood and invite in a positive vibe if you're feeling down.

Research at UC Berkeley actually shows that gratitude has a lasting effect on the brain and having a gratitude practice can help with learning and decision making.

So let's flood the mind with gratitude.

Go ahead and close your eyes.

Take three deep breaths in to center yourself.

In through the nose and out through the mouth.

Really notice how the breath is flowing through the body.

In through the nose.

Out through the mouth.

Just centering yourself here.

One more.

In through the nose and out through the mouth.

And then go ahead and let the breath simply flow in and out of the nose.

Each breath guiding you deeper and deeper into relaxation now.

And then I would like you to start focusing on everything that you're grateful for in your life.

Starting with waking up in the morning.

Your health.

The people in your life that you're grateful for.

Flooding that mind with gratitude.

And every time you catch yourself thinking,

Simply return back to the words I am grateful for.

And then list some more things that you're grateful for.

Noticing the joy and the happiness that also floods your mind as you remember the people that you are grateful for in your life.

As you remember how your body supports you every day.

All of the things you experience every day.

I'll give you some space now.

Just keep returning to the sentence I am grateful for.

Whenever your mind pulls you away,

Come back to I am grateful for.

And then when you're ready,

Go ahead and take a deep breath in.

Opening your eyes.

Coming back to the space you're in.

Thank you for meditating with me today.

Thank you for the short yet eye-opening meditation. I took my first vacation this week in over 15 years after summer of grieving the sudden loss of my dad. It’s easy to lose sight of the shore sometimes and I want to thank you for reminding me that every day is about gratitude and there’s always something to be grateful for , even in the midst of sorrow.
