This is a guided practice for rest, relaxation, and wellbeing. After connecting with breath and body, you are invited to use your imagination to conjure up a beautiful landscape, using all the senses. Towards the end of the recording, there is some unled space for you to simply notice your responses in the body and heart. The practice aims to create a resource that can be returned to over and over, the magical place becoming more vivid the more it is visited.

Transcript

Welcome to this guided practice,

A magical place.

Taking some time to get as comfortable as possible,

Whether seated or lying down.

And tuning to the breath,

Feeling the lower belly moved by the breath,

Rising and falling.

And taking a few grounding breaths,

Imagining the breath is coming into the body through the points of contact with the surface you're sitting or lying on.

The in-breath drawing up from the earth.

And the out-breath dissolving back down into the earth.

And staying connected with the body,

Imagining you're in a beautiful landscape.

Maybe somewhere you've been,

Or maybe not.

And feeling the feet on the ground,

Maybe bare feet on sand,

Rock or grass.

Feeling the texture.

And feeling the air on the skin,

Cool or warm.

And aware of the scent,

The smell of this place on the breeze.

Maybe we can smell pine trees,

Or salty sea air,

Or earth.

And tuning to the sounds you can hear.

Birdsong,

Or the wind,

Or water,

Or blissful stillness and silence.

And aware of the quality of light,

Maybe the light of dawn,

Of dusk,

Or midday,

Or maybe moonlight.

And taking in the sky above.

And taking in the whole terrain visible around you.

And noticing the details you can see,

Texture,

Shape,

Colour.

And as you dwell in this place,

Noticing how the body and the heart respond.

Responding to what's seen,

To the scents,

To the sounds.

The whole atmosphere and feel of this place.

And as the practice comes to a close,

Noticing how you are now.

In body and heart-mind.

And as you dwell in this place,

Noticing how the body and the heart respond.
