This guided meditation focuses on supporting you if you have cancer treatment and lose your hair. We will use breathing, visualisation and affirmations to provide this support. We will focus on releasing a number of emotions for healing, including anger, frustration, sadness, grief, loss, shame, helplessness as well as how your hair loss affects how you feel about yourself. We will soothe pain and discomfort caused by this situation, as well as acknowledge what you have achieved so far. We will bring in positive thoughts and emotions that will help you throughout this part of your journey. Music by meditative via Envato

Let's start by getting comfortable,

Either sitting or laying down.

Gently close your eyes or lower your gaze.

Take a few deep breaths in through your nose and out of your mouth.

And then return to the natural rhythm of your breath.

You have nowhere else to be,

Nothing else to do.

Allow yourself to be present here in this moment.

Just acknowledge the thought and release it with love and acceptance and return to my voice.

We are going to focus on our head.

Notice any pain or discomfort around your head,

Scalp,

Skin or hair follicles.

Let's do some breathing with the intention of soothing this part of your body.

Continue with the rhythm of your natural breath.

And as we breathe in,

Imagine around your head a light blue cool mist starts to form.

Let it surround your head and with more breaths it grows denser.

This doesn't affect your breathing and you feel safe and calm.

Allow the mist to cool your scalp,

Your skin and your hair follicles.

If you have no pain or discomfort here,

Continue to breathe in the blue mist to soothe and calm your head and mind.

Let the cool blue mist ease any soreness,

Redness and pain in this area on each breath.

Check your jaw is relaxed,

Your shoulders are down.

Feel your head calming,

Relaxing,

Breathing,

Cooling,

Releasing.

Feel any stress,

Worries or sadness dissolve away.

Continue this for the next little while.

As you breathe,

The blue mist is going to slowly change colour into a light purple.

Continue to relax your head,

Neck and shoulders,

Your scalp,

Skin and hair follicles.

Take a few deep breaths in through your nose and out of your mouth to release any stuckness and pain.

See the pain be released out of your mouth and be dissolved and healed in the purple mist.

The purple mist is soft,

Calming,

Soothing.

It is dissolving any tension,

Inflammation,

Pain or discomfort.

Continue this for the next little while.

In our next few breaths,

I want you to acknowledge what you have already achieved,

How far you have come,

How you are loving and supporting your body in this moment.

Let's also accept how you are feeling right now about losing your hair,

How you might realise how much your hair means to you.

Let's thank our hair for the job it has done to protect our heads,

Adorn our heads,

Envelop our faces,

Bring joy and confidence,

Beauty and identity to us.

We are going to acknowledge and release any thoughts or emotions around the loss of your hair.

With each breath we are going to allow any thoughts,

Beliefs and emotions to be released.

See the words or emotions leave your body from the top of your head into the purple mist to be dissolved and healed.

There can be many emotions that have been stored and ready to come to the surface,

So be kind to yourself.

Let's thank and release emotions such as anger,

Frustration,

Sadness,

Grief,

Loss,

Humiliation,

Shame,

Helplessness,

Despair,

Self-pity,

Bitterness,

Resentment,

Distress,

Rage,

Anxiety,

Exhaustion,

Depression,

It's time to let go of feeling burdened,

Ugly,

Incomplete,

Judged,

Inadequate and fearful.

Release emotions around how you feel your hair loss will affect your self-image,

Your present situation,

How you look,

What people will say,

Being professional in the workplace,

Loss of confidence,

Loss of control,

Changes to your body,

The impact to your identity,

The fact your cancer journey will now be more visible to people around you.

Allow any of these emotions or others that come to mind to be released into the purple mist to be dissolved and healed.

If none of these emotions resonated,

That's ok,

Just give your body permission to release what needs to be released.

Keep breathing and releasing,

Dissolving and healing for the next few minutes.

Take a few deep breaths to release,

Dissolve and heal the last of these emotions.

Notice your head and scalp as they feel lighter,

Calmer,

Relaxed and soothed.

Imagine now you are laying on the grass in a quiet,

Tranquil space,

In a bed of white or pink flowers.

Feel the grass below you,

Soft,

Cool and calming.

Smell the beautiful flowers around you,

They have the perfect scent.

Feel how your body connects with the earth,

How it relaxes a little more.

In your mind I want you to say to yourself the following phrases,

Even if you don't currently feel them to be true,

Say them as confidently as you can.

I am confident.

I am beautiful.

I am respected.

I am professional.

I am valued.

I am stepping into my power.

I take control of this situation.

I accept this situation.

I will be kind to myself.

I accept myself without hair.

I am beautiful without hair.

I am proud of what I have achieved.

I am accepting of myself,

My body,

Mind and soul.

I am who I am and that is enough.

Say to yourself any other positive words that come to mind.

Keep breathing in these positive words,

Accepting them as they enter your mind,

Body and soul and settle there.

I am confident.

I am confident.

I am beautiful.

I am respected.

I am professional.

I am stepping into my power.

I take control of this situation.

I accept this situation.

I will be kind to myself.

I accept myself without hair.

I am beautiful without hair.

I am authentic.

I am authentic.

I am a warrior.

I am proud of what I have achieved.

I am enough.

I am accepting of myself.

I honour my body,

Mind and soul.

I am who I am and that is enough.

Slowly bring your awareness back now to your whole body.

Feel how it connects to the floor,

The cushion or the chair.

Slowly wriggle your fingers.

Your hands.

Your toes.

And start to make slow and gentle movements.

Move your head slowly from side to side.

Take a deep breath in.

And out.

Slowly when you are ready,

Open your eyes and gently stretch and move as you bring your awareness back to this room.

Wrap your arms around your body and give yourself a hug.

Thank yourself for taking this time to love and honour your body.

And thank you for sharing this time with me.
