Is changing an aspect of our personality,

Our core values,

Our beliefs?

Does lasting change at times feel impossible?

And why are some changes so difficult?

What we know,

What science tells us,

Is that every human being is capable of change.

In fact,

You are already hardwired for this.

The bigger question is,

Are you truly committed to the change you seek?

Or do you give up before the change has really happened?

Change on a spectrum becomes the ever so present,

Ever so real,

Ever so determined new ways of being that inspire and fulfill you,

And for living a life of true greatness.

We are expected to change as a natural part of growth,

Of self-evolution,

Of personal betterment,

And as a natural progression of moving through life and all of the experiences and knowledge that we acquire.

Change is necessary because we learn and experience hardships and wrong messaging from our caregivers and others that we need to correct in order to feel our confidence,

To shed fears,

To undo the damage of unpleasant and traumatic life experiences.

Change is often healing.

It is also a powerful tool of self-empowerment,

Self-improvement,

And self-worth.

You change by the decision you make to do so,

By never giving up on yourself for being responsive to your choices and the behaviors that exhibit the old,

Conditioned ways of being that are not responsive to your current ideals.

You make the corrections.

You extend apology,

And you write the mistakes each and every time so that you remember there is progress even when you falter.

If you recognize your error,

Your unkind words,

Your old patterns,

Your ego,

And in the very next moment,

Correct these.

Others will appreciate that you did so.

You become learned in separating the past from the present and to no longer live there.

To embrace who you are becoming is to practice in every opportunity because life is your practice ground.

It is how you discover the possibilities of living each new moment,

Embodying your new self,

And the transformation that then becomes the change everlasting.

When you resist change,

It creates your suffering.

We don't achieve a goal,

We lose a significant love relationship or the promotion we've been vying for.

We lose out on the potential to live a happier,

More fulfilling life,

To be kinder,

More compassionate,

More confident,

And to have greater connections with others.

And change often requires that you face your fears,

Both real and imagined,

And to live and be authentic and more willing to speak your truth.

If change is so important,

Why do so many people avoid it,

Deny it,

Disavow,

Diminish,

Pretend,

What can truly liberate them from living in fear and self-sabotage?

Limited in their core beliefs and lacking in the communication and relationship skills that would bring them greater meaning and satisfaction in their relationships and with their self.

Of course,

The answer is that change is not easy,

And it requires a dedication to yourself and a commitment to see change through.

I think about all of the people that give up on their weight loss journey or their fitness journey because they don't see the results they're looking for quick enough.

And so they give up thinking that it's not going to happen or it's just not possible,

When really all it requires is a consistent,

Ongoing effort and some subtle changes in what they do as they continue their journey.

Change isn't only about the end result,

It's what you're learning as part of the journey and what become permanent lifestyle habits.

In moments when you feel triggered,

When your well-ingrained habits become the classical conditioning responses,

It is in these moments when your resources are low,

You may feel fatigued or stressed,

The practice is first to name your current state so that you and others around you can be more sensitive,

Understanding,

Perceptive,

And then to take the moments you need and self-regulate to find your inner calm,

To move away from the triggering situations,

To become a quiet observer for a time so that you may choose your best response.

Presence gives way to the new and noble practices that you are learning to master.

The practice is awareness,

It is hope-filled,

Inspiring messages,

And a solemn resolve to step out of the old self-parts of you that do not serve you.

The challenge is to reclaim the decision you have already made to show up differently,

To be your new self.

And as you forge a new path,

New choices,

New responses and actions can persevere and reflect the new way you are choosing to be.

The self-efficacy of honoring this new version of you,

Thoughtfully crafted to exude the person that you are now choosing to be,

Your personality,

Your patience,

Your habits,

Whilst they are all still very new and yet unpracticed,

Give way to the growing confidence of possibility.

If this is a behavior that helps you to be a kinder,

Better,

More loving version of you,

It may also be helpful to remember that this is who you already are,

Who you have always been.

It becomes your calling unto a return to wholeness and your true self.

The change we seek is our own,

The change that we have full responsiveness over is the change your heart yearns for.

The real question,

The real focus is to ask,

How may I change for the better?

Because life's ever-evolving journey is the sweet temperance of what makes you better,

Kinder,

Gentler,

More compassionate,

More loving,

Forgiving,

Joyful,

Expressive in the ways that you relinquish the parts of you that are not truly who you are.

Who you are is gracious,

Kind,

Forgiving,

Loyal,

Considerate,

Honest,

Trustworthy,

Tender,

Happy.

When you are not this,

Seek to become this again.

Find your way,

Your path with your heart open to the conditions of love,

Of kindness,

Of consideration that you are capable of.

Change is a blessing.

When you choose to see it as this,

You imagine all of the ways that you can open yourself to more.

More effort equals more results.

As you challenge yourself to step up into something more,

Something better,

You benefit from the change and the growth that is now a part of you,

Inspiring you to more.

Because the secret to being accomplished is the work of doing the effort,

The consistency,

The growth,

The training,

The healthy habits you embody,

All towards the miracles of possibility that you become through consistent daily practice.

You become better,

No longer anxious or afraid,

No longer hopeless,

Disparaging,

Discouraged,

Because you see that with the effort fueled by a willingness to become,

You become what you desire,

And this is what propels you further still.

It is in taking the difficult steps that you uncover the bliss of so much beauty and possibility in everything,

And of course,

In you.

If you would like my help as you are committed to making the changes you seek,

Please reach out to me,

Let me help.

Thank you so much for listening.

This is Dorothy Sonorio Chuno.

Namaste.
