
Guided Meditation On Light

There can’t be dark where there’s light. Wash away all heaviness, stresses, fears, or sorrows with this adaptation of an ancient tantric meditation on divine light to connect to your true essential nature of goodness, lightness, and purity. It has many beautiful elements – lotus imagery, so-hum breathing, and guided visualisation. You can do this with an actual or imagined candle flame for an expansive feeling of light, peace, and calm. Enjoy the connection to your nature of light and wellbeing.

Welcome to this meditation on light.
My name is Faye Lewand.
I'm known as New Zealand's trusted internal conflict resolution expert,
And I'm thrilled to be bringing to you this light meditation or meditation on light to help you connect with your true essential nature of goodness and light,
Lightness and purity.
You know,
There can't be dark where there's light.
It's impossible.
So this meditation is so powerful to help clear away any feelings of darkness,
Heaviness,
Sorrows or anxieties.
Now,
Traditionally,
This meditation,
This light meditation,
Was practiced using the light from the flame of a candle.
And of course,
You're welcome to do that if you have a candle handy and you wish to do it that way.
But you can also just visualize the light,
The flame.
You know,
The mind doesn't know the difference between real and imaginary,
And the meditation will be just as beneficial with an imaginary flame.
And as you make yourself comfortable,
Bored to enter this light meditation,
I would suggest that you sit for this.
Sit comfortably and relax with your spine nice and long.
Empty the mind.
And what might help to empty the mind is to just connect your attention to the sound of my voice and to the visualizations that my voice will guide you to connect with.
And if the mind wanders,
Which it might,
Because that's just the nature of the mind,
Just gently bring your attention back to the voice.
And if you lose the light,
Just bring it back to imagination with the power of your intention.
So now that you're comfortable and set up for this beautiful journey to connect with the light within,
Either with your eyes closed or with your gaze lowered,
Whatever feels more comfortable,
Bring attention to your breath.
Just watch,
Observe,
And feel the breath.
Watch it as it rises.
Watch it as it falls.
You might wish to take a deep breath in and fill your body like a big balloon.
Open your mouth and exhale.
Long exhalation and a very deep inhalation.
Take another deep breath in and exhale.
Do that one or two more times.
And then just allow your breathing to become gentle and relaxed.
And now as you breathe in,
Just imagine your mind will say,
So.
And as you breathe out,
The mind will say,
Hum.
The So Hum mantra simply means I am that.
It's a really powerful way to anchor the mind to the present moment.
I will also say So Hum to help you out.
So as I say So,
Breathe in.
As I say Hum,
Breathe out.
So Hum.
So Hum.
So Hum.
Now just continue to repeat So Hum in your mind with a breath.
And as you do that,
Visualize,
Imagine,
Pretend,
Or just have the idea that there is a flame,
A flame of a candle shimmering in the center of your forehead.
Right between your eyebrows.
The light of the flame is within you.
Feel what it's like to have light inside.
And let that light now come down.
Down your neck.
Into your chest.
Feel the light in the chest.
Imagine,
Visualize,
Pretend,
Or just have the idea there's a lotus flower in the center of your chest.
This lotus flower is opening.
Opening slowly to receive the light as it reaches your chest.
This lotus flower represents the purity within.
Feel the purity,
Feel the wholeness that's starting,
That's emanating from the heart and spreading all over the body.
Now the lotus disappears and only the light remains.
Let the light go down.
Down the body to your right hip.
Down your right thigh.
Around your knee and down to your right foot.
The light goes back up your leg,
Around your knee,
Up your thigh and across your body to your left hip.
Down your left thigh,
Round your knee and into your left foot.
Back up the left leg,
Around your knee,
Up your thigh and across to the bottom of your spine.
Let that light now remain a steady flame at the bottom of your spine.
Say or think to yourself,
May these legs of mine that have been touched by this light take me to places of good company and perform useful activity.
Feel that happening.
Feel that positive intention wrapping around your legs,
Feet,
Hips and thighs.
And now let that light slowly go up your spine,
Up to the space between your shoulders.
See the light going across your right shoulder and down your right arm to your fingers.
Let it go back up your arm,
Across your right shoulder to your left shoulder and down your left arm to your fingers.
The light now comes back up your arm and then comes to rest between your shoulders.
And now say or think to yourself,
May these hands of mine that have been touched by the light to only goodness and with right intent.
Feel that happening.
Feel that intention wrap around the shoulders,
Arms,
Hands and the fingers.
And now take the flame from between your shoulders,
Up your neck to your throat.
See the light glowing in your throat.
And let the light now go up to the top of your neck,
Into your mouth and tongue.
See the light playing on your lips and then think or say to yourself,
May these lips and this tongue of mine speak only truths,
Not engage in gossip and always be good of others.
Feel that happening.
Feel that intention wrap around the throat,
The neck,
The mouth,
The lips and the tongue.
The light now comes from your mouth and up to your right eye and now to your left eye and back to the point in your forehead between your eyes.
As the light stands there,
Think or say to yourself,
Let these eyes of mine touched by the light see only good,
Looking for the merits in others.
Feel that happening.
Feel the light and the positive intention.
Totally embrace the eyes,
The forehead,
The eyebrows and all the tiny muscles around the eye.
Let the light now go to the right ear and then across to the left ear and back to a place between your ears and the center of your head.
Think or say to yourself,
Let these ears of mine touched by the light delight in the sounds of nature,
In good music,
In positive language,
To your only truths and goodness.
Feel that happening.
Feel what it's like for that intention to totally cover the ear,
Both ears and the center of the head.
And now let's.
.
.
Now the light goes down to the center of the body where it slowly expands to fill your whole body.
Let the light flow as liquid,
As liquid light to your legs,
Your arms,
And see it surging upwards to the center of your head.
The light expands to fill your head.
It's as if the light becomes a crown that is enshrining and covering the head.
Your entire body now is glowing with light.
Feel what it's like for the whole body to be wrapped in light.
Feel what it's like for the whole body to be glowing,
Shimmering,
Radiating with light energy.
And now let the light expand further out of you to surround your body as if you're now sitting in the center of a ball,
A ball of light or a column of light.
Experience the wonder of the light surrounding you.
This light casting out all fear,
Negativity,
Worry,
Or sorrow.
The light is in you.
And some would say you are the light.
And now the light expands in ever-increasing circles to include the room you're sitting in.
It expands to cover the whole building.
Further and faster,
It expands to cover the local district,
The city,
The whole country.
The countries and oceans nearby.
Imagine now the light expanding faster and faster to cover the whole world,
The whole glow covered in light.
And imagine yourself sitting with the light on the entire light-filled globe.
And notice what is it like to exist in light and light alone.
And now bring into this light all people,
All cultures,
All races everywhere.
Bring into the light your rivals,
Your enemies,
Those you dislike and those who dislike you.
Bring them into this light because they also have light within them.
You and they are linked by the spark which flows in us all.
Let light flow to them.
Forgive them.
Bring now into your mind's eye those that you love.
Your family members,
Kids,
Siblings,
Grandparents,
Aunts and uncles,
Cousins,
Friends,
Neighbors,
All those that you care about,
All those that you love,
All those that matter.
Bring them into this light and wash and shower them in the light of love.
And notice what is it like to send light,
Love,
And compassion to all those in your world.
And now include in this light all life,
All plant life,
Trees,
Creatures of the water,
Animals in the animal kingdom,
Creatures of the air,
Fish,
Mammals,
Reptiles,
Birds and insects,
And especially those you dislike.
Let the light pervade all,
All life forms,
Everything,
The entire earth,
And feel now what that's like.
The light expands without limit.
Stay in that thrill of expanding light.
There is nowhere either on the earth or in space where that light does not present.
Rest in that light,
Still and vibrant.
And now look into yourself.
Bring your awareness back to the light within your body.
See the light at the center of your chest.
And with that light in your heart,
See yourself going about your day-to-day life,
Going about your life,
Fulfilling all your duties and responsibilities and all your roles,
But doing so with that connection to the light,
The purity,
The goodness within yourself and within all life forms on this planet.
