Welcome to day 7 of our 22 days of guided meditation,

Navigating recovery and overcoming adversity.

Many people engage in addictive behaviors to cover up the discomfort,

Friction and remorseful persistent blaming of one's self that comes with the secrets we are holding onto from our past.

It is often these secrets and regrets from our past that generate the personal embarrassment and distress that often keeps us stuck in our addictive patterns.

The shame and guilt of our past limits our ability to be fully present and at peace with ourselves and often our addictive behaviors serve the purpose of suppressing the pain that is associated with these memories.

Freeing ourselves from this emotional baggage is essential to letting go of our addictive patterns that are driven by the grievances and regrets we are holding onto that are no longer serving us.

It is when we can begin to let go of our past and free ourselves from what no longer serves us that we actually become free to live in the present at peace and it is then that we are able to move forward as conscious choice makers rather than individuals fueled by regret and grievance.

With that said,

One of the best ways to move beyond these negative thought patterns and stuck emotions is to meditate.

Meditation helps us to reduce our anxiety,

Depression and the emotional turbulence associated with our past.

Through meditation we can quiet our inner dialogue that generates this turbulence and in turn let go of the emotions and stories that keep us stuck in our addictive negative habitual behaviors.

Now let's prepare for our meditation.

Begin to find a comfortable seat and close your eyes.

Now begin to become aware of your breath,

Not focusing or concentrating.

Just simply watch the breath as it naturally flows in and out.

Now easily and effortlessly begin repeating today's mantra,

So Hum,

So Hum,

So Hum.

Continue to repeat this mantra,

So Hum and whenever you notice yourself distracted by thoughts,

Noises in your environment or physical sensations in your body,

Simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra,

So Hum,

So Hum,

So Hum.

Please continue with your meditation.

I will watch the time and when it's time to end our meditation you will hear me ring a soft chime.

When you hear the chime stop repeating the mantra and continue sitting easily with your eyes closed.

Enjoy your meditation.

So Hum,

So Hum,

So Hum.

It's time to silently release the repetition of the mantra so hum and continue sitting easily with your eyes closed.

Now begin to bring some slight movement into your body,

Wiggling your fingers and toes.

Whenever it feels comfortable,

You can slowly open your eyes.

I hope you enjoyed the rest of your day and I look forward to meditating with you again tomorrow for day 8 of navigating recovery and overcoming adversity.

Namaste.

Great session. Helped me reinforce the truth that by choosing to come back to the Mantra rather than stay with thought, I can choose healthily in all areas of my life ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

What if being truthful and getting rid of your guilt will cause more distress and hurt to others? Is it better to keep quiet and suffer or rock other people's lives to aleave your own suffering?

George, thank you. I am surrendered to the knowing that powerlessness is frustrating and without surrender can lead me to insanity if I don't pray & rely. I must be vigilant, stay the course, take care of the gift, so that I can continue to have a choice.

A perfect meditation for me today, what I need in my recovery, some healing from the past. I recommend this series to anyone, but especially great for people in recovery from addiction.
