Welcome to this guided meditation.

This meditation is designed to help you find inner peace by using your five senses.

Find a comfortable position,

Either sitting or lying down.

Then close your eyes and take a deep breath in and sigh it all out.

Let the tension melt away with each inhale and exhale.

This is your time to relax and journey inward.

There's nowhere you need to be,

No one you need to answer to.

This is sacred time carved out just for you.

Feel the rise and fall of your chest.

Inhale deeply through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth.

With each breath,

Allow your body to relax deeper and deeper into the present moment.

I invite you to tap into your senses and use your imagination,

Starting with your eyesight.

Recall your favorite thing to see.

It could be a beautiful sunset,

A serene forest,

Or the night sky filled with stars.

Picture the sight vividly in your mind,

Seeing every detail clearly.

Next,

Think of your favorite sound.

Maybe it's the sound of ocean waves,

A gentle rain,

Birds singing,

Or the wind dancing through the trees.

Hear this sound.

Let it surround you,

Bringing a sense of calm and joy.

Now recall your favorite smell that's not related to food.

It might be the fresh scent of pine,

The fragrance of blooming flowers,

Or the earthy aroma after rain.

Breathe in deeply and imagine the smell filling your nostrils.

With each inhale,

Let it calm your entire being.

Think of your favorite taste.

It could be the sweetness of a fresh summer peach,

Your grandmother's special recipe,

The taste of freshly baked bread,

The refreshing sip of iced tea.

Swallow and imagine your taste buds being lit up with each sip or bite,

Feeling refreshed and content.

Lastly,

Focus on your favorite sensation of touch.

Perhaps it's the warmth of the sun on your skin,

The coolness of a gentle breeze,

The softness of grass under your feet,

Or the comfort of a cozy blanket,

The warm embrace of a loved one's hug.

Feel the sensation grounding you into this moment of peace.

Take a few moments to fully engage with all your senses.

Imagine a special place you could visit that holds your favorite thing to hear,

See,

Smell,

Taste,

And touch.

Know that this is a place you could visit anytime you need peace and joy.

When you're ready,

Gently start to bring your awareness back to your breath.

Inhale deeply and exhale slowly.

Begin to notice your body feeling grounded and calm.

Wiggle your fingers and toes,

And when you're ready,

Slowly open your eyes,

Bringing with you the peace and happiness of your happy place.

When you reflect on your favorite sensations it may happen that there’s one you dearly miss. The laughter of children. It was bitter sweet to reflect on that sound that occurs only rarely for me. This meditation was helpful to not only feel appreciation for having current favorite sensations but also on decisions that may improve one’s experience of favorite sensations.

That made me feel so joyful! Thank you so much Shelly. I miss your live meditation sessions but pretty soon I'm going to start attending again. My daughter's treatments are going so well, she has gained back her mobility and her personality is vibrant! I will be returning to work next week so I look forward to waking up early again on Fridays to attend your life meditations!
