I'm Iris van Ooyen and this is one of the meditations I created for my book Radiant.
This meditation is designed to help you relax to a deeper level and become more aware of your physical body.
Take a moment and place both your feet firmly on the floor,
Allowing yourself to be fully present,
Giving yourself the gift of this time for yourself.
If you want you can place an hand on your lower belly to invite your breathing to deepen and then with every exhale send your energy,
Your awareness to your feet,
To the earth beneath you.
Breathe in your own pace and then focus your awareness on your head and allow any excess energy in your head to slowly trickle down.
Let it spread itself evenly throughout your physical body,
Trusting that the energy knows where to go.
Then focus your awareness back on your feet,
Feel how the soles of your feet are resting on the floor and then imagine that from the soles of your feet roots are growing downwards,
Just as if you were a tree.
Downwards,
Sideways,
Creating a fast network of roots.
It's acting as a counterweight to anything that's present above the surface,
Keeping you rooted and balanced.
Relax your shoulders and in a moment we're going to take a deep breath in together to fully align our energy fields and to ensure that we're present here in this moment with all of our energy,
Attention and focus.
Take a deep breath in and let it out.
Give yourself a moment to scan your body.
See if there's any place where you might be holding tension.
It might be obvious,
It might be hidden and then with every exhale set the intention that you are releasing some of the tension that you're holding in your body,
That you're holding in your muscles,
Your cells,
Your body,
Your body.
Simply breathing in your own pace and on every exhale feel a release of tension,
Of stress that has accumulated over the years where we forget to relax them.
I'd like you to consciously relax your hands,
Your arms,
Your shoulders.
Relax your chest,
Your back.
Release any tension that might be hiding in your lower back or that you're holding on to in your belly.
Relax your pelvis,
Your upper legs,
Your knees.
Let go of any lingering tension in your calves,
Your ankles.
Relax your feet,
Your toes and then traveling up to your shoulders.
Relax your shoulders even more,
Releasing some of the tension,
Some of the weight that you've been carrying,
Some of the responsibility that you've been lugging around and give yourself permission to set that down even if it's just for the length of this meditation knowing it's always there for you if you choose to pick it back up again and feel how that helps soften your shoulders and how that ripples through the rest of your body.
Allow yourself to relax your throat,
All the pent-up words,
The frustration,
All the emotions you've held back.
Allow your throat to be soothed,
To be nurtured.
Allow it to relax,
Release the tension.
Relax your neck,
Your jaw,
Your mouth and your tongue.
Relax your cheeks,
Your eyes,
Your nose.
Relax your ears,
Your temples,
Your forehead and allow your entire scalp to relax.
Feeling a deeper relaxation wash over you from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
With every out breath find yourself releasing more tension,
Allowing a deeper relaxation of your entire physical body.
Feel how you become heavier,
More present and allow that heaviness to increase.
Know that with a deeper relaxation you allow the energy to flow more freely through your body and through your system.
The more you're able to relax,
The better your body is able to recharge,
To receive what it needs because you're no longer restricting the flow.
Allow yourself to take in this relaxation,
To enjoy it.
Enjoy this moment for yourself where all that matters is you and how you feel.
Don't worry if you drift off,
Just allow yourself to relax even deeper,
Getting more and more heavy.
Feel how with this heaviness comes energy.
And allow the energy to flow through you.
You might feel tingling,
A sense of warmth.
Go with whatever it shows up like for you.
And then feel yourself being enveloped in a warm cocoon as if you're receiving a hug,
An energetic hug that's warming you up from the outside in,
From the inside out.
Allow yourself to take this in,
This appreciation,
This warmth,
This loving presence,
Knowing that you are loved and appreciated much more than you are aware,
Much more than people might express.
And then feel yourself being filled up where you've released tension,
Feel how that space is refilled with this energetic vibration,
This supportive energy.
And allow your system to wake up,
To be activated,
To be realigned,
Realigned with how it was intended to function,
Flowing freely,
Unencumbered,
Where there's no need for you to control or do so much.
Simply allowing yourself to be present,
Present and guided,
Trusting that you are exactly where you're meant to be.
And smile,
For you are so very loved.
And then in a moment I'd like us to take a deep breath in together to engrain these new energies and to anchor this deepness of the relaxation.
Breathe in and let it out.
Allow your awareness to return to the present moment,
Bringing all of your energy,
Your focus back here into this call,
Into this moment.
Feeling how you're sitting on your chair or the floor.
Wiggle your toes,
Your fingers,
Rotate your shoulders,
Wiggle your jaw and when you're ready you can open up your eyes.
