
Stress Management Practice With Acupressure

This track contains a stress management meditation, and instructions for a stress management acupressure technique. It also includes tips and examples for applying the guided imagery presented in this practice to creating positive mindfulness triggers for managing stress in challenging moments in our everyday work and personal lives. It is a recording of a 1:1 meditation session that turned out really well, so I wanted to share it with you. It's not perfect, but made with love.

Okay,
So the first part is super simple.
There are pressure points.
Go ahead and do this with me as I'm talking about it.
I'm assuming you don't have your shoes on,
Right?
Right,
Right,
Right.
Some people have slippers of course at home,
But anyhow,
What you want to do is you want to feel on the bottom of your foot,
Below the ball of your foot,
Literally right below the ball of your foot,
There is kind of a tender spot right there.
Can you feel that?
All right,
So that's your foot chakra which is obviously a connection of nerve endings.
So it's very sensitive when you press on it.
But it also helps you with grounding.
I would say more so actually than the root chakra though,
Because it's literally also what we do when we walk on,
Especially when we walk outside on the grass or the sand at the beach,
We are literally grounding ourselves.
And that means also electrically grounding ourselves to Mother Earth.
So you can just pulse that with the fleshy part of your thumb a couple of times.
You can do it for maybe about 30 or 60 seconds.
And you can also picture yourself literally being outdoors while you are doing this.
Should I be doing both?
Well,
You can do one at a time.
You can do it one at a time.
Yeah,
You can do both if you've got the flexibility to get into a position where you can reach both.
You can certainly do it that way,
Yes,
Absolutely.
But you don't have to.
You can do it one at a time.
Like I said,
Generally I do this for about 30 to 60 seconds.
But tell me,
Have you done one side,
Or are you working on the other side now?
David?
Just switch to the other side.
Okay,
Just switch to the other side.
Okay.
So we will do it for a couple more seconds.
But what do you feel from that right now?
Do you feel something immediately?
David?
David?
I could feel initially just a little discomfort,
And then it went away.
It kind of resolved.
Right,
So physical discomfort or metaphysical?
No,
More physical just from the pressure,
But that one little tender spot.
But then it went away quickly and felt overall relaxed.
Good,
Good.
So that actually means you probably stored some energy there,
Stored some stress there,
Because you weren't grounding out.
So I think definitely grounding is going to be kind of a good thing.
Well,
It's going to be a mainstay for you,
Especially over the next couple of weeks as you are getting your body overall more grounded,
So your energy body,
Your physical body more grounded.
And then it will be a natural ongoing thing.
But it may feel tender a couple of times when you do it,
But again,
That just shows us that there is stored stress,
Because if it was just tender otherwise,
The more you would press on it the worse it would actually get,
Versus the other way around.
All right,
So now let's get into our meditation phase.
And we will cover the second part,
Actually as part of meditation.
And then it will become evident to you how you use it separately and apart from a meditation,
A seated meditation.
So I want you to do also two things.
For starters,
As you are breathing in,
As you are starting to breathe,
And starting to connect with your body,
I also want you to have your left hand open on your lap,
Your receiving energy.
And with your right hand just take maybe the index finger,
Or middle finger,
Or the fingertips,
And touch your heart center right there in your sternum.
Touch your heart center,
And also smile at your heart.
As you are breathing in and out,
Are you feeling the breath fill your lungs,
Air fill your lungs?
You exhale and you release any tensions that have built up throughout the day.
Breathe in.
You breathe in love.
You are smiling at your heart.
You are touching your heart center.
You release more tension.
On your next breath in,
You are imagining this golden light coming up the back of your feet by your heels,
Literally coming up and coming up the backside of your body.
And again,
Up the backside of your body to your head.
And on the next exhale,
Visualizing that golden energy flowing down the front side of your body,
And back into Mother Earth.
It is now out through,
It is coming in through your heels,
And out through your foot chakras that you just activated.
It is traveling through Mother Earth,
And around your Earth Star chakra which is literally in the ground,
And circulating back up again.
Now that you are comfortable with that imagery and feeling that a little bit,
I want you to let that continue running in the background with your breath,
Feeling the grounding and your connection to Mother Earth,
Your connection to that nurturing,
Supportive,
Nourishing,
And grounding force that is our home that we are connected to.
And now,
I want you to visualize yourself sitting in a beach chair on a beautiful,
Amazing beach,
Just perfect,
Perfect.
It's either sunrise or sunset,
Your favorite time of the day.
And you are listening to your breath,
And your breath is now synchronized with the waves of the ocean,
Ocean breath.
You hear a little bit of seagulls off in the distance.
You hear a little bit of the breeze brushing the palm fronds in the trees around you.
You smell that beautiful,
Amazing tonic,
The salt water air,
The iodine,
Cleaning and cleansing your lungs,
And the very core of calm strength,
And refreshing energy that then makes its way from the oxygen into your bloodstream.
The sea within,
The sea within your temple,
The ocean within your temple.
And shift your feet back and forth a little bit.
You feel the sand shifting underneath your feet as you dig them into the nice cool sand.
The rest of your body is nice and warm,
And you feel the nice and cool.
Your feet are nice and cool.
And now,
You think a little bit about the journey that brought you here,
This journey in both senses of the word.
There is a little bit of a spiritual journey that allowed you to arrive at this place now,
This serene,
Beautiful,
Amazing space within you,
And you within your surroundings.
And you also think about your flight,
And you think,
Well,
It wasn't so bad.
Yeah,
It was a little bit of a rush here,
And in between,
The layovers,
But it all turned out all right.
It all turned out all right.
We kind of laughed a little bit about it once we got off the airplane.
It's all good.
It turned out fine,
And I knew it would.
And everything back at the office is going to be just fine.
I don't need to worry about that other thing that I thought I would have to get done,
And I didn't get done.
Nobody is going to lose their life over that.
It's going to be just fine.
This is going to be an amazing day.
I'm going to enjoy exploring everything on this beautiful,
Amazing place that we have chosen for our vacation with my beautiful,
Amazing wife.
We're going to have fun.
And maybe we'll also have some conversation about some stuff that we've been needing to talk about for a while.
But in this setting,
It's going to be perfect for that.
We're going to have good heart to heart.
We're going to have a better understanding.
Sure,
We may not even have perfect solutions,
But deeper appreciation for one another,
And our dedication to each other.
That's the real beauty in all of this,
Not any kind of perfection,
But all the imperfections just addressed with calmness and serenity.
We're enjoying life and really soaking it in.
And we're both going to take a big piece of this place,
This experience with us.
When we go back home,
Let that continue to be our magic throughout the work day,
Throughout the week,
Until our next beautiful,
Magnificent,
Amazing adventure.
It's going to feed us in our everyday adventures and joys.
All of the little things that we're going to find to be grateful about.
I'll continue soaking in a little bit of the visualization of the scenery,
The pictures you have painted.
And literally,
As we're starting to close this out,
I want you to visualize pulling,
Breathing this entire scene into every pore of your being,
Head to toe,
And everything in between.
We're literally soaking it all in with every breath,
And rededicating yourself and this integration into Mother Earth,
This experience into Mother Earth.
A blessing to both of you,
A communion between the two of you,
And your wife,
And anybody else you choose.
And touch your heart center again with your right hand.
Smile at your heart,
And open your eyes.

I wasn't even sure.
Other than the structure of what I wanted to share with you in the beginning,
The rest was literally just inspired by our energy,
Our connection,
Our collaboration.
And that is the most beautiful part of all of it.

I got deep.
I was just really meditating.
I was listening to you,
But at the same time I was so there.
I was so transformed into the setting,
And the golden light,
And the sand,
And the beach,
And the waves,
And the energy.
It was just beautiful.
Beautiful.
Amazing.
Yeah,
This is great.
This is wonderful for me as well.
It's just really wonderful.
And obviously,
You can tell that – I wasn't sure where I would drop these nuggets for when you are in the middle of your busy workday,
But you can obviously see how you can pull various pieces of this out of it for that,
Including of course,
The foot chakra massage,
Or foot chakra activation massage.
But actually,
You know what?
