This is a short,
Calm moment for children aged 6 to 9.
A teacher or adult should be with you while you listen.
You don't have to do this perfectly,
Just give it a try.
Let's start by getting your body into a position that feels comfortable.
You might be sitting on a chair or on the floor.
You might be on a cushion or in a beanbag or leaning against a wall.
Perhaps you're even lying down if your teacher says that's okay.
If you wish,
You can close your eyes.
See if you can let your body feel supported wherever it is.
Your hands can rest in your lap,
By your sides or on your tummy.
It's Monday.
That means we've come back to school after being away for a bit.
Sometimes coming back is easy,
And sometimes it's a little bit tricky.
You might still be thinking about your weekend or your holidays,
Or perhaps even the people you miss at home.
And that's okay.
Our brains don't always switch over straight away.
Let's give them a moment.
Take a slow breath in through your nose,
And let it out through your mouth.
Let's do that again.
In through your nose,
And out through your mouth.
Now,
See if you can notice your body where it is.
Notice the places where your body touches the chair,
The floor,
The wall,
Or the beanbag.
Notice your feet or legs.
Notice your shoulders.
You don't have to change anything.
Just notice.
If your mind has wandered off,
That's okay.
Just bring it back to listening to my voice when you remember.
Let's take one more gentle breath together.
In through the nose,
And out through the mouth.
Now,
Imagine putting your weekend or your holiday into your adventure tote.
You're not throwing it away.
You can unpack it again later.
You're just setting it down for now.
You can pick it up after school when you're ready.
Right now,
You're here.
It's a new week,
And your body and brain are getting ready to learn.
When you're ready,
Gently wiggle your fingers and toes,
And open your eyes.
Welcome back to Monday.
