Returning To Safety

With Karen Vos

There comes a moment when we realize we can no longer live in a constant state of bracing for what might happen next. Perhaps you've spent years carrying the weight of responsibility, caring for others, anticipating problems, or feeling as though you always need to hold everything together. Over time, your nervous system may have forgotten what it feels like to truly rest. If that feels familiar, this course was created for you. Returning to Safety is a gentle 10-day journey designed to help you reconnect with the quiet place within you that has always been steady, wise, and whole. Together, we'll explore how to meet fear with compassion instead of criticism, calm the inner alarm, release the need to control everything, reconnect with the woman beneath the roles you've carried, trust your own inner wisdom, discover soft strength, receive kindness without guilt, and ultimately become a safe place for yourself. Each day includes a calming guided meditation, gentle reflection, and a simple practice to carry with you into your day. This course is not about becoming fearless. It is about remembering that beneath the fear, beneath the striving, and beneath the expectations, there is a part of you that has always known the way home. Whether you are navigating anxiety, overwhelm, a season of transition, or simply longing for a little more peace, I hope these ten days become a place where you can exhale, soften, and remember your own quiet strength. I'm so grateful you're here. Let's begin by coming home to yourself.

Meet your Teacher

Hello, and welcome. I'm Karen Vos, a meditation teacher, educator, and guide who believes that healing doesn't begin by becoming someone new, it begins by gently returning to who you have always been. For many years, I've been drawn to creating meditations that help people slow down, soften, and reconnect with themselves. Again and again, I've seen that beneath our anxiety, striving, and self-doubt lives a quiet place of wisdom, compassion, and steady strength. My hope is to help you remember that place within yourself. I created Returning to Safety for anyone who feels tired of carrying so much, living in constant anticipation, or feeling as though they always need to hold everything together. This course isn't about fixing yourself or becoming fearless. It's about learning to meet yourself with kindness, calming your nervous system, and discovering that the safe place you've been searching for has been within you all along. It is an honor to walk beside you on this journey. Wherever you're beginning today, you're welcome here. Let's begin by coming home to yourself.

Lesson 1

Arriving Back Into Yourself

Welcome to Day 1 of Returning to Safety. Today, we begin with one simple, powerful practice: arriving exactly as you are. Together, we'll gently set down the pressure to fix, strive, or have all the answers, and instead begin reconnecting with the steady, compassionate place within you. This is the first step in remembering that safety doesn't come from controlling every outcome, it begins by coming home to yourself, one breath at a time.

Lesson 2

Understanding The Habit Of Fear

Fear is not a sign that you are broken, it is often a sign that some part of you has been working hard to keep you safe. In today's meditation, we will gently explore fear with compassion instead of judgment, learning to meet ourselves with kindness rather than criticism. As you begin to understand your protective patterns, you create space for greater calm, self-trust, and inner safety.

Lesson 3

Calming The Inner Alarm

Today, we gently turn our attention to the body and the nervous system. Fear isn't only something we think, it is something we often carry in our muscles, our breath, and our hearts. In this meditation, you'll practice calming the inner alarm with gentle awareness, mindful breathing, and self-compassion. As your body begins to recognize moments of safety, you'll discover that peace isn't something you have to chase, it's something you can return to, one breath at a time. Today's Gentle Reminder: Your breath is a pathway back to safety.

Lesson 4

Releasing The Need To Control

Today, we gently explore one of fear's most familiar habits: the need to control every outcome. While control can feel like protection, it often leaves us exhausted, carrying burdens that were never ours to hold. In this meditation, you'll practice loosening your grip with compassion, making space for trust, presence, and the quiet confidence that you can meet life one step at a time. Today's Gentle Reminder: You don't have to control everything to be okay.

Lesson 5

The Person Beneath The Roles

So many of us spend years becoming who others need us to be caregiver, partner, parent, professional, helper, or the one who always holds everything together. Today is an invitation to gently set those roles aside, if only for a few moments, and reconnect with the woman beneath them. As you rest in your own presence, you'll begin to remember that your worth has never depended on what you do. It has always lived in who you are. Today's Gentle Reminder: You are more than the roles you carry.

Lesson 6

Listening To Your Inner Wisdom

Beneath the noise of fear, self-doubt, and the expectations of others, there is a quieter voice that has always been with you, your inner wisdom. Today, you'll create space to listen with openness and compassion, reconnecting with the steady knowing that has gently guided you through every season of your life. As you begin to trust yourself again, you'll discover that the answers you seek are often found in the quiet moments when you simply pause and listen. Today's Gentle Reminder: Your inner wisdom has never left you.

Lesson 7

Soft Strength: Finding Courage Without Force

For many of us, strength has meant pushing through, holding everything together, and continuing even when we are exhausted. But there is another kind of strength, one rooted in compassion, flexibility, and trust. Today, we'll explore the power of soft strength: the courage to remain open, the wisdom to honor your needs, and the ability to move through life without abandoning yourself. You don't have to become harder to be strong. You can soften and still stand tall. Today's Gentle Reminder: Softness is a form of strength.

Lesson 8

Allowing Yourself To Receive

Many of us have learned how to give, to support, nurture, help, and care for others. But receiving can feel unfamiliar. Today, we gently explore what it means to open ourselves to kindness, support, rest, and love without needing to earn it first. Through this meditation, you'll practice releasing the belief that your worth comes from what you do, and begin embracing the truth that you are worthy simply because you exist. Today's Gentle Reminder: You are worthy of receiving.

Lesson 9

Becoming Your Own Safe Place

Throughout this journey, you've been gently returning to yourself, meeting fear with compassion, listening to your inner wisdom, and remembering the strength that has always lived within you. Today, we bring those pieces together and explore what it means to become your own safe place. Not a place where life is always easy or certain, but a place within yourself where you can return with kindness, presence, and trust. Wherever life takes you, you can come home to yourself again and again. Today's Gentle Reminder: Home has always been within you.

Lesson 10

Walking Forward With Trust

Today, we complete our journey together, not with an ending, but with a beginning. Over these ten days, you've practiced meeting yourself with compassion, calming your inner alarm, releasing what you cannot control, and reconnecting with the wisdom and strength already within you. In this final meditation, we'll gather everything you've discovered and carry it forward into your life. You do not need to know every step ahead. You only need to trust that you can meet each moment with presence, kindness, and courage. Today's Gentle Reminder: You can return to yourself, again and again.
