This is a five minute meditation.
This is a meditation to help you soothe anxiety during this season of life while you are in recovery from an eating disorder.
The holidays are often a time of deep reflection and vulnerability.
They can feel forceful,
They can feel uncomfortable,
And this is especially true if you are in recovery or on another healing journey.
As the holidays often asks us to leave our normal routines.
So let's take a moment to ground ourselves with breath.
Taking a deep inhale.
Holding for a second at the top and exhaling deeply.
And again,
Taking a deep inhale.
Holding at the top for a second and exhaling deeply.
And once again,
Through the nose,
Inhale.
Hold,
Exhale through the nose,
All the air out.
Grounding yourself,
Feeling yourself supported on this earth,
On the surface that you're on.
Today's meditation is going to be a little interactive in that I would love for you to say the mantra out loud with me,
I choose recovery today.
So say the word recovery today.
So saying it with me now,
I choose recovery today.
Even if your family doesn't fully understand your disorder or how to support you,
You can trust in your path.
You don't have to conform to what others are saying about themselves,
Yourself or other people.
You don't have to engage with diet or body shaming talk.
You can deflect that type of talk or you can exit the room if need be.
Let's say the mantra again together.
I choose recovery today.
Even with all of the new foods,
You can choose to eat them or not,
You have a choice.
You don't need to overthink too much or quote,
Save your calories.
You know what happens when you save calories.
That energy gets left to living inside of your mind.
There's a sacrifice that has to be made.
So choose to eat all of your meals today and trust in your own journey.
You never know how much it can inspire those around you.
Let's say the mantra again.
I choose recovery today.
Even if you are resting more,
Everything in nature takes a rest in the colder months.
The trees lose their leaves,
Animals sleep more and we are forced to stay home off of the wintery roads.
So it's time for you to slow down and to recharge.
You are not a robot and you can't keep going without rest.
Let yourself relax into these days and fully embrace the season of slowness.
It's not always going to be like this.
Now say the mantra,
I choose recovery today to yourself.
Inhaling and exhaling deeply,
Imagining the words flowing in your mind,
I choose recovery today.
Imagine feeling those words in your body.
What colors do you see?
Is it light?
Is the light bright?
Is it dull?
I choose recovery today.
You can place your hand on your heart,
Feeling your body and connecting with yourself.
I choose recovery today.
You're doing so well.
Your recovery is going so strongly and you got this.
Slowly start to move your fingers and your toes,
Blinking your eyes open.
Take a deep cleansing inhale,
A deep cleansing exhale,
And you got this day.
