Settle into a position where you feel both comfortable and alert.
This could be a seated position with your legs crossed,
The crown of your head pointing towards the ceiling and your hands resting palms up or down on your knees.
Maybe you're lying down or propped up on a wall or cushion.
Choose whatever shape works for you today.
This is your time and you do not have to meet anyone's expectations.
Begin to release any tension you may be holding onto by letting a feeling of relaxation make its way through your body.
Starting with your feet,
Your ankles and your calves.
Allowing this feeling to extend to your knees,
Your thighs and your hips.
Feel this relaxation extend into your lower back and belly and then moving into your chest and upper back,
Allowing yourself to feel more at peace.
Take a deep breath in and on the exhale let your shoulders sink away from the ears,
Allowing that feeling of comfort to move down your arms,
Your hands and right out of your fingertips.
Allow your neck to relax,
Unclench your jaw and release any tension you're holding in between the eyebrows.
As you embrace this feeling of relaxation,
Move the focus to the breath,
Inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the nose.
As you breathe in,
You can think to yourself,
Inhale and as you breathe out,
Think exhale.
Expand your awareness to include your entire body by noticing sensations that you may be experiencing.
Keep the anchor of the breath by thinking inhale as you breathe in and exhale as you breathe out,
But after the exhale,
Note a sensation you're feeling in the body.
You may think inhale,
Exhale,
Lower back,
Inhale,
Exhale,
Shoulder.
Make sure to let go of each sensation after you note it and move back to the inhale and exhale and focus on a different sensation in the body.
Release this mindfulness exercise by returning your breath to a slow,
Deep inhale and exhale through the nose.
Try to hold on to the peacefulness and stillness you've cultivated through this practice.
These practices help us quiet the mind,
Which makes it easier to tap into our deepest selves.
Things continue to go deeper by considering a question that is inspired by the tarot card the Three of Wands.
The Three of Wands shows a man standing on a cliff with his back turned,
Looking out over a vast sea in the distant mountains.
Three Wands are firmly planted in the ground,
Representing his commitment to his plans.
There are ships sailing by in the sea,
Which represent movement and progression.
From his vantage point,
He can see all that lies ahead,
Including any challenges and opportunities.
This card may indicate that you're considering opportunities to expand your current strategy and maximize your potential.
It could also be an indication that it's time to step out of your comfort zone and that your best opportunities lie outside your current environment.
Turn your focus inward and ask yourself,
How can I expand my horizons?
Sit with this question without trying to analyze or think and just allow any answers to the come up from deep within.
How can I expand my horizons?
How can I expand my horizons?
How can I expand my horizons?
As you practice bypassing the thoughts and listening to your deeper wisdom,
You may notice that you don't always get words as answers.
Sometimes you get images,
Impressions,
Maybe even memories or random thoughts that come up,
But anything that came up for you could have meaning.
Take the next few breaths to process what did come up for you and consider if you want to act on anything that you learned.
Listen to the following affirmation and whether you feel it's true or not,
Repeat it to yourself and let it resonate deep within.
I am capable of great things.
As we reach the end of today's practice,
Bring the palms together at heart center,
Slightly bowing your head and just take a moment to reflect on your experience.
Were you able to connect with your inner wisdom?
Did you practice listening and being open?
Allow this experience and any insights you have gained to stay with you as you bring your awareness back to your physical surroundings.
Take your time and when you're ready,
Open your eyes and allow your body any movement that it needs.
