Hi there and welcome My name is Kristen.
If you have not practiced with me before I'm so grateful that you're here I am a meditation instructor and a registered dietitian and The way that I flow with my meditations typically I'll bring some sort of topic that Maybe has come to me or something that I have experienced recently that I want to share with you We'll chit-chat about that and then we'll dive into the breath,
Of course dive into the body and Then I'll come back to that topic in mind and we'll just sit with it for a little bit I may ask you some intention questions that are always just an offering if You feel like answering them internally during the meditation Wonderful,
If you want to come back to them later,
That is great If you want to just sit with yourself and not answer anything It's your time your space and your breath.
So welcome.
I get really excited every month thinking about wondering what topic will come to me something always does and this month's topic is Saying yes and receiving so saying yes to things questions New opportunities and and the art I'll say the art of receiving because it is an art and I've been thinking about how uncomfortable it might be and the why behind this sometimes myself included we would rather do it ourselves or Not put someone else out or not waste someone else's time but what a beautiful gift to pause and receive I Personally think it's just like a lot of things Sometimes we need to practice right to get used to it because it can be so uncomfortable And we have to lean into it.
We have to we have to really really choose that and Sometimes we have to choose to be uncomfortable Saying yes can be uncomfortable receiving can be very uncomfortable So I'll share a little story with you Just last weekend.
I was in a tea shop and I walked in and I felt so good energy was good and the people were really nice and it was warm and I was greeted by the woman that was working there and she said oh,
I have some hot tea brewing I'd love to give you a cup.
Do you want one and Without even thinking I said no and then I said no,
I mean,
Yes.
Yes.
I'm working on Yes,
And I did not even have to explain myself.
She smiled She got me a cup of tea and she said I hope you really enjoy this and it felt so good that Exchange it also felt so good to be able to kind of I don't know if I want to use the word correct but sort of correct myself in the moment and Be vulnerable about that.
I meant yes,
And I said no and I'm working on that and it was just she just got it so That led me to this meditation about receiving So with that topic in mind,
Let's find a place and space that feels comfortable to you and your body Remember you can sit or stand or lie down if you happen to be in an office you can use a desk chair This is your practice.
So whatever feels good and supportive to you If you want to pause this meditation and go get a blanket and light a candle and grab your pet.
That's great,
Too Your hands can be at your side or on your lap and you always have the option of gazing down or closing your eyes and you can just play around with both of them and See what that feels like And when you're cozy here and your body is feeling grounded Let's just take a moment to be be here together and this collective energy just being Now as your body is already breathing for you Go ahead and tune into that breath Breathing in and out of your nose gently Our breath can tell us so much about What we are doing in this present moment and what we need How does your breath feel today?
Are you able to take nice long deep breaths or maybe your breath is a bit shallow?
Notice the pace notice the rhythm and See if you can just slow down that rhythm just a bit What is your breath trying to tell you today as those thoughts start to creep in just welcome them Welcome them give them a little acknowledgement and set them free No judgment Now let's tune in to our bodies today in this very moment How are you?
And I learned from another coach.
How are you really?
Different question,
Right?
How are you really?
In this moment,
You might want to do a couple of shoulder rolls Maybe that feels good to your body today And maybe nothing at all And I give you the option to gently and kindly Scan your body and see if there's anywhere that needs a little extra love And just try to place it there if you can Now coming back to our topic Saying yes and receiving Internally,
I just want you to say the word.
Yes And see how this feels inside of your body Just three letters.
Yes Notice what sensations might be coming up thoughts might be coming up Again,
No judgment.
Just three letters.
Yes Now switching gears a bit Internally,
I want you to say the word.
No How does it feel in your body when you say the word?
No What ideas?
Sensations messages Are coming to you with that?
Two-letter word there are certainly different energies associated with these words and I'm here today to share that you are worth the yes You are worth receiving love and grace and patience and Whatever else the universe has in store for you And I'm going to ask you a few reflection questions today surrounding this and just feel free to sit with whatever comes up And remember if nothing comes up,
That is totally fine.
You can just enjoy some peace with yourself Where in your life do you find yourself saying no the most?
Where in your life?
Do you find yourself saying no the most?
Can you commit to taking a pause before you answer?
No To see what a yes might feel like Can you commit to taking a pause?
Before you answer no To see what a yes might feel like and can you open your heart?
To receive One thing one prayer one piece of advice Some sort of help this month Can you open your heart to receive one thing one prayer one piece of advice or help this month?
Now letting go of the questions And whatever else came up over the next over the last couple of moments Coming back to your beautiful breath Breathing in and out of your nose Each and every one of you are so worthy of receiving May it be uncomfortable Something we need to lean into Something we need to practice From the bottom of my heart.
I really really believe it is so so worth it Let's take one big inhale through the nose together and Let everything out through your mouth let's do that one more time in through the nose and everything out Allow yourself some space here to come back to the room Come back to your body Maybe wiggle your fingers and toes And in your own time when you feel ready You can open your eyes Thank you so much for your time for showing up for yourself and For maybe trying something new and uncomfortable in being brave Sending so much love I'll chat with you soon
