Hello,
And welcome to this meditation to help you let go of the things you can't control.
In reality,
We rarely have control over anything.
But once we accept this,
We're able to live a more worry-free life.
Go ahead and find a comfortable position for you,
Either sitting upright with a straight spine or lying down on your back.
Rest your hands wherever feels good,
And then gently close your eyes.
Now begin to take several deep breaths in and out of the nose on your own time.
Really stretch out the inhale as you breathe deep into the belly and elongate the exhale,
Relaxing the body as you do so.
Breathe deeply,
Filling the entire body with air,
And exhale,
Letting all the muscles relax.
Feel the shoulders drop,
The jaw unclench,
Let go of anywhere you may be holding tension.
Beautiful.
Now imagine that you're sitting on an airplane about to go on a trip.
Maybe you're with family or a friend,
Or maybe you're by yourself.
Maybe you're traveling for work or going on a long-awaited vacation.
Imagine whatever scenario you want and start to visualize the space around you,
What airline you're flying,
What you're wearing,
What you're listening to if you have headphones on.
Good.
Now the flight attendants have taken their seat and the pilots have positioned the plane on the runway for takeoff.
Maybe you're feeling a little anxious because you have a fear of flying or a fear of heights.
Whenever we fly,
We're completely putting our trust in the pilots,
Flight attendants,
Air traffic control.
We can't control how any of those people do their job.
We can't control what weather we'll be flying through.
We have to let go and trust that we'll be okay,
That whatever happens,
It'll be okay.
So start to think about something that causes stress or worry because you can't control it.
It can be big or small.
Whatever it is,
Let it come to the surface.
What are you afraid would happen if you let go of control?
That fear is connected to this worry.
Now sitting on the runway in this plane,
We're going to use the plane's gradual ascent to help us let go of our need to control.
Just as we let go and turn our trust over during takeoff,
We can do the same for everything in our life.
We can put our trust in ourselves,
The universe,
Or some higher power.
So as I guide us down the runway and up into the sky,
Start to let go of your desire to control and the fear surrounding it.
We're starting to slowly move down the runway now.
You can feel the hum of the plane start to pick up.
The airport gates are beginning to pass by quicker and quicker through the plane windows.
You start to feel your heart beating faster,
Like it does whenever you're worried.
But this time you don't engage in the thoughts that come with it.
You start to take deeper breaths and just focus on the feeling of relaxing.
Knowing that there's nothing you can do,
Nothing you need to do,
Is actually quite freeing.
You can just be.
As the plane starts to move even faster now down the runway,
You begin to relax and let go.
If you were gripping the seat handles,
You notice that you've let go and it actually feels nice just to sit back and relax.
The plane starts to lift off the ground easily and you look out the plane window,
Watching in amazement as you start to fly higher and higher into the sky.
There are no worries or fear here.
You're just enjoying what a gift it is that you're even able to be on a plane flying through the sky right now.
You see the beautiful landscape below start to get farther and farther away as you make your way into the clouds.
Your whole body and mind are so relaxed now.
It feels so peaceful up here where you have nothing to do except be.
Just be here relaxed in the clouds for a moment.
Major.
You you Good Anytime something comes up that makes you worried You realize you can just imagine it's like a plane ride Or the best thing you can do is just sit back Relax and let go of your desire to control it Start to take a few deep breaths again on your own Slowly coming back to the present moment And now repeat after me.
I am willing to let go of my desire for control I am able to let go of my desire for control I know that worrying does not help I allow life to unfold as it will anyway When I start to feel stressed and worried,
I choose to let go and relax Everything will be okay I will be okay Beautiful Then take as much time as you'd like and whenever you feel ready,
Slowly and gently open your eyes

I liked the parallel between being on a flight, where you are completely surrendering your trust, to situations you cannot control. Delivered with gentleness. Thank you. π

Thank you for this meditation and talk. Iβm finding where I struggle with control is I canβt control how people perceive me. How people understand me. How they hear what Iβm trying to say. Letting go of all that is very freeing.π©·ππ¦ππΉβ₯οΈπ©·

That was helpful. I like the analogy of taking a flight where so much that happens is out of my control, and in the hands of others it was easy to detach and calm down on a Monday morning full of anxious thoughts and a long to do list.

I've been experiencing a lot of major changes in multiple realms of my life in recent weeks, which has caused plenty of stress and anxiety. However, this meditation hit the spot nicely! The visualization and comparison of a plane takeoff and flight to the general sensation of losing control went hand in hand, which has given me a better perspective. Your soothing voice also helped me to concentrate and walk away from this session with a much more positive and optimistic outlook. Thank you so much, Lara! π ππΌ

Thank you Lara! This guidance is a wonderful guidance with easily accessible visuals. It's particularly useful with my move to California. I am driving across country in a couple of weeks, and recent events has introduced some heavy fear. Of course, it's an illusion. I will use this track again to help right-size those fears and move forward with my adventure. βοΈππΎ And thank you for the well wishes! π Have a great day!
