Learn and practice a breathing technique called Bhramhari or humming bee breath that is great for soothing the nervous system by creating a humming sound as you exhale. While you are doing this technique the exhale also becomes longer which is calming too. Be prepared to make some sounds. Guided practice with background music, and an opportunity for you to practice at your own pace and try different variations. Release frustration and agitation and settle into calm.

Today I'm going to guide you through a breathing practice called Brahmarie breathing.

This is hummingbee breath.

It's named this because of the sound that we make as we exhale,

Which sounds like a bee.

This technique is effective in quickly calming the mind and aiding in turning your senses inward.

It's a great technique to release agitation,

Frustration,

And anxiety.

And it's almost like you're creating your own binaural beats as well,

Which can be very soothing,

Calming,

And balancing.

Finding a comfortable position here,

Whether you want to be seated,

Against a wall,

Using any props,

Or lying down.

We will be making some sound here,

So I suggest being in a space that you're comfortable doing this.

I like to do it when I'm home alone,

I like to do it when I'm driving.

You can always listen along then too.

Once you find your way into that comfortable position,

Begin by taking a deep breath in.

Gently close the lips and try making a humming sound as you exhale.

Kind of like an M sound right behind your lips.

Mmmmmm.

And when you're ready,

You take another deep breath in with your lips closed,

And again,

Create that humming sound as you exhale,

And stretch the exhale and the sound out as long as you can without forcing it.

Mmmmmm.

Now try that out five more rounds,

That inhale through the nose and exhale,

Making that humming sound right behind your lips.

When you're finished,

Release,

And I will give you another option to try.

Mmmmmm.

Mmmmmm.

And you have the option to continue just like this if you'd like,

Or two little add-ons.

You can take the tip of your tongue and just press it up towards the top of your palate as you do this exercise.

You can try a few rounds adding that in if you would like,

And then I'll give you one more option to add on.

That is if you want to take your pointer fingers and gently press them into the cartilage of your ears,

Just like you're closing off the inner ear.

This way you can contain the sound and you might find that it affects you a bit more.

See how that feels?

Or if you would like,

If you have the option to be hands-free right now.

Try out about five rounds like that if you would like,

Or stick with the first option is fine too.

Mmmmmm.

Mmmmmm.

Mmmmmm.

Mmmmmm.

When you have finished,

Just relaxing your hands down,

Releasing that sound to your breath,

Settling back in towards your more natural rhythm of your breath,

And checking in,

Seeing how this breath feels in your body.

Maybe you still feel some residue of vibration left over from that sound.

Whatever it is that you feel,

It's your personal experience.

No wrong or right answers,

But just take this time to feel and listen.

And if your eyes are closed,

Just gently blink them open when you are ready,

Bringing your focus back into the space that you're in.

Thank you for sharing this practice with me today.
