Sink into a gentle, restorative meditation designed to soothe your nervous system and guide you through the winter and holiday season with ease. Using the principles of polyvagal theory, you’ll explore grounding breathwork, safe-connection cues, and a soft visualization practice where we trace a five-point winter star—a symbol of clarity, warmth, and manifestation. This “Star of Manifestation” becomes a lighthouse for the colder months, especially for those navigating seasonal affective disorder, overwhelm, family dynamics, or emotional heaviness. Each point of the star invites you to regulate, soften, and return home to yourself. Music: Inner Strength Elm Lake Cover Photo: Vidar Nordli-Mathisen

Hello there,

My name is Lisa and welcome to Manifesting Safety,

Calm and Authenticity this Holiday Season with the Polyvagal System.

Polyvagal theory is the theory that a lot of our feelings of safety,

Our fight or flight,

Our freeze,

Is really connected to the vagus nerve.

In polyvagal therapy,

You can go through these three states,

These three archetypes to understand where you're at and where you or what you need in order to feel safe,

To feel calm,

To feel grounded.

For our polyvagal holiday or winter star,

I will be playing with the techniques in order to allow you to come into that space so we can manifest a beautiful holiday season from a place of what we truly need authentically,

Not from bypassing,

Not from doing our best to ignore our needs and go along with what we think we're supposed to be doing,

Not leaning into scourge energy either,

Honoring where we are at from a place of peace and unconditional love.

So with that,

My friends,

I invite you to come to your comfortable position,

Whatever that is for you today,

Whether it be seated,

Lying on down,

Feel free to sway and rock softly,

Feel free to stretch and allow yourself that if you need to move throughout the practice,

As you can,

But feel free also to get cozy and welcome yourself into a gentle stillness.

And I invite you to take a nice,

Big,

Deep inhale into your body,

Breathing on in,

Filling up your body as much as you can,

And exhale,

Sighing out,

Letting go.

Breathing on in,

Filling your belly,

Your chest up with air like a big Buddha or Santa belly,

Breathing on in.

And exhale,

Sighing on out,

Releasing,

Letting go.

And last,

Big,

Deep inhale,

Breathing in,

And exhale,

Sighing out,

Letting go.

Tuning on in to your present moment,

Asking yourself honestly,

Without criticism,

Without judgment,

Without attaching a storyline,

How am I feeling at this present moment?

Maybe we're in a state similar to a dark ice or cold day.

Sometimes I refer to this Eeyore kind of energy,

Referencing Winnie the Pooh,

Or maybe you are feeling more fiery,

More animated,

More fight or flight,

Anxious,

More like Piglet or Tigger or Rabbit in this Winnie the Pooh analogy.

Maybe you're feeling pretty good and you're there with Pooh,

Seeing everything,

Reacting to everything,

But also being able to take stuff one step at a time from that energy we love so much.

Maybe you're in alignment with a little bit of that holiday groundedness,

Restorative energy,

Joy.

But if you're feeling a little bit more like cold winter ice with nothing growing,

Or an anxious fire,

Or a blazing heated fire,

I invite you to take a nice big deep inhale into your body,

And exhale,

Sighing out,

Releasing,

Letting go.

And I invite you to think of one thing in this present moment that you feel right now allows you to really feel safe.

It could be the sound of my voice,

Or the light music playing in the background of this track,

It could be the foundation of your seat,

Your breath,

It could be the truth that you are here with me in this moment.

And that space of safety is your truth,

Is a truth.

Breathing into that safety.

Releasing the rest and letting it go.

Knowing that you are safe.

You can cultivate safety leaning into what allows you to feel safe.

Breathing in.

Exhaling out.

That is one point of the star,

Which is safety.

The next point is really what allows you to feel really blessed in this present moment.

It could be a roof over your head,

Or the fact that you have access to this moment.

It could be breath in your lungs,

Or your inner strength and willpower.

It could be allowing yourself to just be.

But what is one thing in this moment where you feel as if it's a true blessing?

The next point of the star is one thing we're truly looking forward to,

Or one thing we want or need that we can look forward to.

It could be sleep,

A good meal,

It could be an energy of plans with family and friends,

Something you may be receiving in the mail,

Or the time off from work.

What is something you are truly looking forward to,

Or something you wish to invite into your life,

Or something you need?

Noticing that what you need and what you look forward to go hand in hand,

Sometimes.

Sighing on out,

Releasing,

Letting go.

Having those three points of our stars.

Moving on to the next point,

Which is,

Can you allow yourself to say one kind word or phrase to yourself?

As if you were speaking to your best friend,

Your child.

Maybe you're speaking to your inner child or a vulnerable pet.

I invite you to say one thing kind to yourself from a place of love.

Breathing in to that kind phrase,

Sentence.

Creating the last point of our star.

Visualizing your holiday season or your winter months.

Visualizing all that you will be doing.

And from this space of kind words,

Safety,

Honoring things you look forward to or things that you need,

And anything you feel blessed to have.

I invite you to set an intention.

That intention is the final point of our beautiful star.

This star will guide us through the darkest days of winter,

Through our anxieties,

Our feelings of hopelessness,

Our grief.

When our nervous system feels revved up and we can't connect to the present moment,

Or simply put one foot in front of the other,

You can go back to this star.

So whatever that intention is,

Go ahead and set it.

Breathing in to that intention.

Sighing the rest out.

Bringing that energy into your body by slowly maybe wiggling fingers and toes.

Maybe floating the eyes open if you had them closed.

Gazing around you.

And exhaling out.

I thank you so much for joining me,

My friend,

For all that you are,

For all that you do.

Know that you are stronger than you could ever imagine.

You are loved more than you realize.

And you are worthy of all the joy this holiday season,

This winter month.

I hope this meditation serves you and you can go back to it whenever you need.

Even outside of this space,

Remembering that star that we created together.

Sending you so many blessings.

Divine.

Magic.

And love.

Namaste.
