This guided reflection invites the meditator to reflect on the year that has passed and then look forward to identifying "What am I working towards?" This practice is helpful during times of change and at transition points in one's life. Inspired by the habit change work of James Clear and the Body-Centered Inquiry discipline of Jonathan Foust.

Taking this time to settle into our space,

Finding a comfortable seat that supports both relaxation,

A little bit of flexibility,

But also a focus,

Stability of the various points of your body,

The thighs and bottom back and shoulders supported by the chair.

Just taking these moments to gather the state of affairs,

Arriving not just in body,

But in mind and heart,

Letting the body relax.

There's nothing for it to do,

Nowhere for it to go.

Using this time to drop into the experience of being human,

Dropping into some silence and some stillness and sensing our group here,

Our community,

As we practice together.

I'm reading a book called Stillness is the Key,

And I came across this really interesting quote today.

Stillness is best not sought alone,

And like success,

It is best when shared.

We all need someone who understands us better than we understand ourselves,

If only to keep us honest.

So when we practice,

We're in one sense alone,

But also together.

Both are true,

Alone together.

Alone together.

You might draw your attention to the sensation of breathing,

Feeling the air as it enters your nostrils,

The coolness of the in-breath and the warmth of the out-breath.

If it supports you,

Just stay with this as an anchor,

Feeling the sensations right at your nostrils,

Breathing in and breathing out.

Allowing the breath to be natural,

Not trying to control it or change it.

Simply observing this breath.

This was a nice reflective meditation. I enjoyed the questions he posed and the answers that came up for me.
