On day 3, we will look at the theme of 'Joining Together' which is about looking at the steps you need to take right now. The Circle of Calm is inspired by the method called 'Emotional Walkabout'. It's explained in the book 'Emotional Yoga' which is written by Bija Bennett. In the 10 meditations on the Circle of Calm, I (Marianne) will explore the method of self-inquiry with you to find answers to situations, feelings and/or thoughts that keep you busy.

Hello and welcome.

Welcome to Day 3 on the Circle of Calm.

And today we will look at the second step of the emotional walkabout method from Bijha Bennett.

And yesterday we looked at the step of allowance and then today we will look at the topic of joining together.

Let's do it together.

Let's begin.

First I would like you to find a comfortable seat.

Settle into your pose and then take a moment.

Take a moment to notice where you are right now.

Take in the space around you,

The colors,

The light,

The temperature.

And also from here perhaps close your eyes and feel the space of your own body.

Feel the breath in your body.

And allow your legs,

Your feet to relax.

And relax the arms,

The hands and also the muscles around your eyes,

The cheeks and the jaw.

And let your breath move at its own natural pace.

And give yourself full attention.

Notice how the breath is moving in your body.

And notice where you can feel the breath.

Where is it most obvious today,

Right now?

So feel your body breathing.

Breathing on its own.

And not only maybe feel the breath but also hear the breath.

So listen to the breath and the feelings in your body and your body.

Feel what's present right now.

And be with it.

And also like yesterday allow yourself to go there.

There's nothing you need to do.

You don't need to change it.

You don't need to give meaning to it.

You don't need to label it.

The only labeling that you could possibly do is when a thought comes up,

You say thought.

If a sensation arises,

You can say sensation or feeling.

So allow yourself to go there.

Stay with the breath,

Stay with what is happening in your physical body.

And feel the energy move inside.

Stay with it.

Notice it.

And also notice how it perhaps changes on its own.

And like yesterday you can ask yourself allow me to see what is creating this feeling,

Thought or situation.

So whenever you're ready.

Allow me to see what is creating this feeling,

Thought or situation.

Or the other question that might resonate more with you,

Allow me to know the meaning or purpose of what I'm feeling,

Thinking or the situation that I am in.

So keep on noticing.

Listen.

Listen to what you hear inside.

And when you start paying attention to what is happening in your body,

The feelings,

The sensations,

The breath,

The movement of the energy within you,

Then something inside of you will tell you what you need.

From allowance let's look at what it is that you need.

And the question that goes with it today is allow me to see the steps that I can take to deal with what I'm feeling,

Thinking or the situation that I am in.

So allow me to see the steps that I can take to deal with what I'm feeling,

Thinking or the situation that I am in.

You can keep on rephrasing or you can rephrase the question if that suits you,

If you want to choose words that resonate more with you.

Or keep on asking that question inside of you and then listen.

From allowing to joining together,

So from whatever is present today,

Right now,

Moving forward to steps that you can take.

You're basically creating a dialogue with yourself.

So how do I feel?

That's your first question.

How do I feel right now?

And then onwards to allowance,

What is creating this feeling?

What is the reason I feel this way?

So what is the reason I feel this way?

And how can I connect with it?

How can you connect with what you're feeling?

And what are the steps that you can take to deal with it,

To allow it to be there?

And you could even create that dialogue with those emotions,

Asking them,

What would you like me to do?

What are the steps that you would like me to take?

So whatever works for you,

Stay with what is present inside of you right now.

Tune into it and ask yourself,

What are the steps that I can take to deal with what I'm feeling,

Thinking,

Or the situation that I am in?

And keep on tuning into that voice inside that tells you what you need.

And sit here.

Sit with it and feel it and let it be there and listen.

Keep on observing.

And whenever your mind drifts off,

Bring it back.

Bring it back to the breath,

The breath in the body.

Keep on tuning into what is happening inside of your body.

And feel the flow of the breath inside of the body,

Feel the energy.

Feel how the breath is moving.

And you can let go of the questions.

You can always come back to it later.

Let it be.

Take a moment again to feel where you are right now and take another deep breath in and breathe out.

Let it go.

And let this be your meditation for today.

And whenever you're ready,

You can open your eyes if you have them closed and become aware again of the space around you and at the same time the space of your body.

And I will speak to you again tomorrow.

Speak to you then.
